Am I too Expensive for Etsy?

Hi, I am a returning shop, Silversmith - Jewelry design. I have not had lots of time to do research on competitive pricing here on Etsy.

I have the age old problem of pricing for wholesale while selling retail direct. I do put items on sale and rotate the sale items. But I really need to know if my prices are way too high for Etsy or not?

I am ok if my prices are at the higher end as long as they are within range, because I do believe in my designs, and do a decent business outside of Etsy.

Any feedback on my pricing would be helpful.

Re: Am I too Expensive for Etsy?

Hi Scott, Firstly your designs are lovely and I defiantly don't think your prices are too high for etsy - you have had 33 positive sales so people are willing to pay your price!

Generally people recommend working out your retail price by x2 your wholesale price. - Have you got any feedback from your wholesalers on prices and comments from people buying it in other stores?
Have you also got business cards, with your shop address on, with your wholesalers where people can later come back to your etsy store if the don't immediately buy in that physical store?

Hope these ideas help - I know its frustrating I have the same worries but feel sometimes these things can take time!

Re: Am I too Expensive for Etsy?

Thanks Paige, thanks tons for the feedback.

I do keystone on wholesale. I get feedback from my wholesellers yes. I work with them on pricing on new designs. But retail pricing and online pricing retail might be at odds. That was one of the things I am exploring on Etsy, and a reason for this thread.

I do have nice biz cards, but use my website for that type of promotions.

I am of the opinion it definitely takes time. Last time I was on Etsy it took almost 3 months to get my first sale. Then I got involved in another project at about the 7 month mark and had to move on. That won't happen this time around. Of interest almost 25% of my sales happend after I stopped all marketing efforts on Etsy. People found me anyways. Which definitely says something about it taking time.
