Promote your Etsy via Tumblr - Get your Etsy items posted on up to 20 blogs

In this guide I will show you how you can get your Etsy items posted on a bunch of different Tumblr blogs. If you don't know what tumblr it's a blogging platform where anyone can create a blog. What we're going to do in this guide is we're going to take advantage of the submit-feature many tumblr blogs have.

The submit feature is a way for blog owners to let other users submit posts for publication on their blog. Blog post suggestions that they can either accept or deny to be posted on their blog.

We're going to use this feature to suggest a bunch of Etsy blogs on tumblr to post about our Etsy items/products, it's very simple and you don't even need a Tumblr account.

Down below you can find a list of 20 blogs that you can submit your post to, just go to each blog and add a photo of your item, write a description, and make sure to link back to your Etsy item and then submit your post.
Keep it simple, don't add a lot of text, tumblr is mostly about photo blogging, so keep the text to a minimal, a title in the description and a link to your item is good enough.

Also make sure to read all the rules for each site.

I came to share a couple of things.

I submitted to www.fuckyeahcraft.com/submit. She did post my item, which is great. But I also happened to see that she posted a big comment about how she doesn't want submissions that are just Etsy links with no other information. She said nobody wants to look at Tumblrs that are just full of simple Etsy links. That there should be some interesting background information included in the submission. I don't know if this is just her opinion or if it truly is how a lot of bloggers feel. When I was submitting, I did try to look at each blog and make sure I was submitting in a way that matched other posts on that blog.

Also, I have noticed that several of the posts that resulted from my submissions got tons of 'hearts', which is great. But I don't really have any views showing in my shop stats from Tumblr. So it seems like people are seeing my items and liking them, yay, but so far not enough to come check out the rest of my shop. Maybe it's just a matter of doing it even more, as it often takes a lot of views to get to a sale, or maybe people aren't really shopping from Tumblr, or it could mean anything...but just wanted to share in case the info helps anyone.

From my experience most bloggers want minimal texts when it comes to submissions, (link + title) but all blogs are different and people want different things, so there's really no general rule to give out here.

I had the most success just having a link and a title when I submitted to blogs, but I'm sure I also been denied on several blogs just because I haven't written enough about my items.
And also the other way around, some blogs don't want long descriptions.

Read the submission rules, check out the blog and see how posts looks like (long or short descriptions?)

Tumblr marketing is a numbers game, you won't see huge success just because you got submitted to a blog but in my opinion it's still worth doing and it's easy way of getting your stuff out there.

Maybe I am misunderstanding but doesn't just posting your item to someone else's blog count as spamming them? I would love to get my tumblr blog really working for my shop

Julie Austin, these blogs want submissions to their blogs, also they can turn down any submission if they want, so it's not like you post directly to their blog by doing this, so no this is not spam.
