Merge 2 store to 1?

Hi!

I’m not sure this the intention of the this team is to advise and recommend but I thought I’d ask for some advise.

I own two shops and have a very challenging time supporting both and am strongly considering merging the two.

Do you feel the shop would be confusing with art and journals?

Love your thoughts.

Re: Merge 2 store to 1?

Hi Liane,

I've merged my jewelry and stuffed animals into one store. I would say your lovely journals have more in common than jewelry and velveteen! I think if your store statement combined the products you'll do great! What plant loving gardener wouldn't love your prints and write down their seed lists and sketch their layouts in a lovely journal?! As we get 5 photos for each item, perhaps you could have one of your journals open to a page with such a sketch... paperclip a photo to a page... Viola!

As a gardener, if you made a journal specifically for gardeners with a pocket for empty seed packets (so you don't loose all that great information on them) that might be clever too.

And as an artist, who doesn't use a sketch book/ journal? I love mine!!! And I love revisiting them. Make your own library.

I also find that merging exposes my jewelry customers to craft they didn't know I do and vise-versa.

Have fun!

Noelle - That is such great advice and I totally agree. The type of shops that Liane is considering merging should do very well together.

Re: Merge 2 store to 1?

Wow...awesome advice NOelle!! And great idea about the pocket for the seed packets!!

Liane, I've noticed that in both shops you seem to be really well established, which might make it easier to merge the shops, I'm thinking. It's not like you're starting from scratch. Plus, I know for myself, I"ve hearted shops and noticed that they have 0 items for a couple months..then when I check on their store they've actually closed but left directions how to get to their new (or newly merged shop)...if I've hearted them once, I'm absolutely going to go out and seek their new shop.

Re: Merge 2 store to 1?

Thanks Noelle / hortenseandeloise, vtdesigns and thebellefleur, really wonderful advice.

My only fear is it may detract from my journal sales. I may need to take extra images of those so they clearly look like a journal in my shop.

I did visit a few shops that I think have made the “mix” work well. Now that we can re-sort the layout in our shops I’ll simply “merchandise” it as I would a treasury.

I do believe it’s decided….now I definitely know what I’ll be working on this week as I make the merge. I will re-apply to the team under my 1st store.

Now, one follow up. If someone has created a recent treasury where I’ve been included, and I moved that item to the “other” store. Would it be appropriate to let them know so they can pull it from the new store…or not?

Thanks so much for your thoughts, it’s appreciated!

You are my favorite team :-)

I will edit my treasury and relist your item at its new home. I am sure anyone else would do the same. It takes 2 secs.

This is my favorite team too!
