March Discussion Thread

Hey Guys!
Happy March 1!! So, at the begining of every month I'll start a new thread - otherwise the discussion threads get really really long if you don't close them off every once in a while!

So, I don't know if I mentioned this buy I'm expecting a new little baby girl this May!! I was hoping to go off work today but, of course, my OB thought that was a bit premature! Grrrrrrr...... oh well!!!

Noelle - I think it looks great! My only suggestion would be to leave a tad more space between the first letter of your text and the picture to the left and then again a tad bit of space at the end of the text and the picture to the right. Just a suggestion for readability!

This morning my 2 year old said to me, "mommy, you are not my maid - you are my mommy.". I said back to her that she was right. Then she says, "but then sho IS my maid???". Haha...I told her to get in line b/c if anyone is getting a maid it's me!!

I really need some help on my pictures! These wall hangings are so hard to photograph! For my first picture, I can't decide whether to zoom out and show the whole item, or zoom in and show some of the cute detail. When I zoom out, you can't see any detail and I feel like no one will click on it to see the closer up pictures.

I REALLY appreciate any feedback!! You'll see in my shop, I have some zoom in and some zoomed out - I just can't decide!?!

THose wall hangers are super awesome!!! And you're right, they must be really tough to photograph, because they are so long. I personally think a zoomed up pic for the main photo is best...with a bit of background maybe. Only thinking of treasuries...which can be super great for promotion of your shop if you get lucky enough to hit front page or something!

I think my fav pics from your shop are the standing albums....that are close with a bit of (non-cluttered) background. Is there any way to try something like that with your hangings? Also, I like the listings for your hangings that actually include pictures with them...so you can get the whole idea of what they will look like.

Just my suggestions...keep with it though!! Your stuff is AWESOME!

Thank you SOOOO much for taking time to give me some feedback! I'm thinking the same thing you are. I realized no one would pick one for a treasury with it zoomed out, because you can't even see it! But I want people to understand that it is more than just the one or two squares that I am showing them in the picture.

That is funny that you say you like the pictures on the wall hanging. At first I was putting pictures on them, but then I thought I shouldn't, but I think they are a lot cuter with pictures on them. But then I thought maybe that is just because I like pictures of my daughter! LOL!

lol...omg, we sound so similiar!! DOn't over analyze it! haha...the pics of your daughter make them super cute AND finished off. I have seen many listings that are really zoomed in and then the second pic is of the entire item. I think the main thing for the first picture is that it's your hook...get people interested and then they will click on the link and more pics!

Just gave your treasury some love Jen! Seriously... perhaps some padded hangers for us grown girls!! My wedding dress and veil could use some loving!! ( old as they may be) Let alone the rest of my wardrobe! You are so right about the shop name needing to be moved in my new banner. I must admit, I gave up at a certain point. Thankd for the feedback. In all sincerity, this is my favorite team. If you need some help with the baby coming soon, put the word out! I am happy to help, as I am sure a lot of us are.

I checked out your monkey and tiger. I love your first photo, but it is really small when it is just the little thumbnail. Maybe try the second photo and see how that looks. As you can read earlier in this post, I've been debating this same issue back and forth. I'm in the process of re-doing all my photos to zoom in more. We'll see if it gets me any sales! :)

vtdesigns - Great new print!! I can't remember who I was saying it to before but I always struggle to find baptism gifts (not that i'm going to a ton of baptisms - but when I do, I never know what to get!)...this is a great gift idea!

Noelle....thanks so much!! THat is so sweet of you to say!! And you're right, our team is awesome!! Lovin all the support and I'm excited to see where our team goes! I do plan on starting a team blog so we can organize more teamy type things but have decided to wait until AFTER the baby is born! And I had thought about making regular sized adult hangers too but thought maybe it wouldn't garner much attention since my banner, avatar and stuff is all geared towards kids - but I'm always open to taking custom orders of course!!! ;o)

Babysully...I see you switched out the photos! It is so tough to figure out which works best. One trick that I do is when I'm looking at my shop, I briefy switch out the way I see my listings so they are displayed not as the thumbnail but as the bigger version (the same size they would appear on a treasury)..that way I get a better idea if they would look good in a treasury!

Kelley - thanks!! I have a bunch more fabrics coming too that I'm so excited about!! I think my next thing is I'm going to try to a listing for a "nursery set" and do 2 padded hangers, a matching fabric bin (to fit in a drawer - for like organizing little socks or what have you), and one other item...maybe a hanging closet divider or something.

FEEDBACK PLEASE:
I felt that my custom painted baby names look better photographed on an ivory baby blanket instead of the black cloth. I also switched out each of the main thumbnail photos so that a single letter shows in the picture and you can see a close up image of the letters.

PLEASE let me know what you think - Black vs. White background & close-up vs. picture of a full name as the thumbnail.

Emily - I much prefer the white background as well!! My only suggestion would be to try not use such extreme angles...from a treasury standpoint I think they would look great still on an angle, but just less of a severe one! Otherwise...AWESOME! P.s. My fav was your last listing...so cute!
