Handmadeology Team Challenge

Hey Guys!

Thanks to Cristalee fo finding this, I have entered our team into the Handmadeology Team Challenge. Our team will be designated a list where we all add our items and then share it on social media sites. We have the opportunity to win $450 worth of advertising from Handmadeology including a 3 month ad space right on every page of the blog, a spotlight feature article, Twitter blasts, Facebook shares and a 'backlink building backage'. Handmadeology is a pretty large site so needless to say the amount of people we could be viewed by would be impressive.

The winner is determined by:
1. The largest number of votes at the end of the challenge
2. The largest number of items added to a list.
3. The greatest number of times a teams list is promoted across the web.

So once the list is created we all need to add our items, then share it as much as we can on facebook, twitter, blogs, stumbleupon and any and all other social media places we use.

I think it's a great opportunity for the team and its member and if I can get some work on the team blog done we can share it on there too.

The site goes live on Wednesday so if people are interested in fighting the good fight let me know and we can share the word about Posh Nursery!

Some more information has been posted regarding voting on the handmadeology challenge. Points are given for facebook likes per team member, number of votes per team member and number of products listed per team member. In other words we get points for listing our items and getting people to like and vote on fb.

So really is just a matter of adding the items you can on the list then posting to your fb page as much as you can/feel comfortable with.

I hope lots of you will participate in this as I really think the prize is worth winning and if nothing else it will get people looking at your items!

This sounds great LIsa!! I just read the post on Handmadeology and will you and Jen be choosing the items from each shop that you think we should list or do you want each shop to list their own choices?

Also, how many from each shop? I'm assuming this has to be done and up by the 22nd?? How are we/you practically going to do it?? Where is this *list* that we add to?

Hey Dallas, don't worry I have all the same questions myself! From what I can gather we get the list on wednesday and can then go on and add our items. I don't think there is a deadline to get the items added, but obviously the sooner we do the sooner people can vote for them. The challenge runs for two weeks so we have that amount of time to list and get votes in.

I have emailed Tim at Handmadeology about the other questions so will let you know when I have the answers!

OK Tim has replied and says :

Every member and even non members can add items... but only 2 items per shop can be added and they have to have the team tag.

Our team tag is teamposhnursery

Ok everyone here is the info from Handmadeology:

First off I want to thank all of you for participating in our challenge. We are excited to get the word out about Handmade Top 10. This will also be awesome exposure for your team members. Handmade Top 10 has seen over 600,000 votes since it's start only a few month ago. Every item uploaded sees an average of 100 votes.

Here is how it is all going down. Each team will have it's own top 10 list created by me. Your members can upload 2 items per shop. Each item must have the teams tag as one of the tags... This is automatically checked to keep out unwanted items. My suggestion is to grab some of your team members and upload items from shops that are not directly participating. This will increase your votes and item number.

In the original post I talk about how you can promote a list... be sure to refer your members HERE for info on how to promote a list

Tomorrow morning at 10am the lists will go live so be on the look out for your list to pop up!


The challenge will run for 15 days.. ending on Wednesday July 6 .

Throughout the challenge we will be keeping an close eye on all the stats and be posting up dates on Handmadeology.

Remember the winning Team will receive our largest advertising package worth $450.... Handmadeology is averaging over 150k unique visitors per month! Every member on the winning team will also be able to purchase our popular social media bundle for $5 (sells for $24)from our Etsy shop.

Okay...so I'm a bit confused! What exactly are we supposed to do?

My understanding is that each team member can upload two items from there shop as long as they've tagged it with the team name.

Each shop owner will be able to add their 2 items to the list.

I've checked and our list is live and we can upload our items now. I would suggest the sooner we get items up and the sooner we get the word out for voting the better chance we would have.

Lisa, is it possible to share from the facebook page/twitter/blog too?

Ok, so I tried uploading items from my shop and it says that the Etsy category must match the list category. I've tagged my items with Posh Nursery, so I'm not quite sure why it won't let me upload.

I have gone into the list but the buttons to post things are faded out. I think they must be still working on it, so hopefully it should be ready for tomorrow. I'll get on it first thing and if not will contact Tim.

So every member can upload two items - the sooner we all do this the better. If everyone can share on fb & twitter and ask people to like and vote, I will also post to the blog.

Ok I am currently talking to Tim from Handmadeology as there seems to be a problem with our list. In the meantime can everyone make sure the two items you want to add to the list have the tag 'teamposhnursery' in your Etsy listing or they won't be accepted.

Ok the list seems to be working now! So....

Anyone who wants to enter, please select two items from your store you want to add to the list. Make sure they have the tag teamposhnusery - this must be exact, no additions or variations. Then go to http://handmadetop10.com/#/Lists/66ofd2p4k and enter your listing number and click add.

The list is live from tomorrow for people to vote on and like on facebook, so if everyone can share it as of tomorrow we can hopefully win this thing!!

(Dallas & Sea Urchin Studio there is already an item of yours there as they were used to test it, please still go ahead and upload the two items of your choice and we will get these items removed).

Can we choose any two items? Is there a theme? I will share this info on our FB page and hopefully get a bunch of our members to sign up!

There isnt a theme unless we want to have one? Although it would be better to just have it open and let everyone post the two items they feel would best represent themselves. What does everyone think?

I think if we pick a theme it would get very limiting for some. I like the idea of just posting what we think is our best two items.

but because of the one that is already there, I was only allowed to upload 1 more and the one I chose was the Eloise Wilkins recycled elephants.

If you can, maybe DELETE the Eloise Wilkins one and I'll put in Where the Wild Things Are instead along with the Little Engine That Could Trains that you tested the category with --- is that possible?? If not, that's fine!
