anyone else use p.c stitch?

i cant figure out how to export an image that doesnt show the individual pixels...because as we all know people steal.

i had been softening the images a bit in paint shop when i added the frames but that looks like crap.

any help would be appreciated

Re: anyone else use p.c stitch?

I use it... I just get mad as HELL at it a lot of the times. If it wasn't for the quality of the PDFs (as opposed to KG-Chart which I <3) I wouldn't use it at all.

Oh right, you had a question, lol. As far as I know, there isn't such an option. Just grid or not/previewed stitch or not. It would be super-cool if they had some sort of fudging option or an unobtrusive watermark thingy... but then again, those persistent enough to poach won't let a little blindness stop them. I think they all want us to be assholes with giant watermarks. Boo :/

Re: anyone else use p.c stitch?

it makes me mad too
i mean for the $$ it sure is glitchy. i have finally developed the ability to retouch imported images and make them look nice when i dont want them to have 5billion colors. i dont want to make patterns so complicated that no one can finish them.

I've started using this site:

http://www.myphotostitch.com/Make_Pattern/Make_Pattern.html

You can mess with the patterns until you're happy and they give you an image of what the finished product will look like.

Re: anyone else use p.c stitch?

Download CutePDF and then when you go to print the PDF, using the CutePDF option will let you save-as. There are a couple of other programs that'll do the same thing. Quick download, super awesome easy result ;)

Re: anyone else use p.c stitch?

i use macstitch but i'm assuming they are fairly similar? the pdf thing was tricky. you have to go to print. don't "export to pdf"...it doesn't work.

on the print screen, you have all the options to set it up on the page. at the top you should also see export as pdf and export as png. in my experience, you won't like the whole page set-up it gives you and the file will be too large to email in gmail.

i export as a png and it exports each page separately. i then paste these into word to format how i want. then i save THAT word document as a pdf which will be a much more manageable file size and you can add instructions and such.

obviously, if these options aren't in pcstitch, this comment is entirely useless!

Re: anyone else use p.c stitch?

Sarah, I use macstitch as well (it's the only software available to us mac users). "Export to pdf" works fine for me.

If you export your patterns as a pdf of "used area only" it generates a smaller file and fits to a single page (well, 3 pages: preview of finished, pattern in blocks/symbols, and key). This is great, unless it's a big pattern that is unreadable as a single page. In that case I export as pdf using entire pattern, and it will cut it to multiple pages at an easily readable size.

I have had the occasional customer unable to open these pdf files (maybe 10 customers in over 650 sales), in which case I pasted each page of the pdf file into a word document and emailed it to them that way.
