Writing on polymer clay

Hi!

I'm pretty new to working with polymer clay and I hope some of you have some tips. I'm gonna draw/write on polymer clay and are wondering if acrylic based pens are most suited? Also if it's necessary to glaze the clay afterwards? Clay pieces will be used as jewelry.

Thanks in advance!

I can also add that I'd rather NOT glaze if it's an option here, I like the look of natural clay.

Re: Writing on polymer clay

I use Faber-Castell Pens whenever I write on the clay, from what I've read it doesn't fade and won't react with the clay. However, I always glaze afterwards so I don't know if the ink would hold up without any protection..

Re: Writing on polymer clay

I'd think that an acrylic marker would work just fine - however, I would definitely use a glaze afterwards to preserve the pen/marker on the clay. I use a lot of chalks and such on my creations and if I weren't to glaze them all afterwards, they would fade badly within days. :-)
