Sanding Polymer clay

What is everyones method of sanding and what do you use? I had scratched some of my items from some sanding papers but the ones that don't scratch hardy sand!! I try my hardest to keep fingerprints off but there's always at least a tiny spot there!

Re: Sanding Polymer clay

I haven't ever sanded any of my stuff. If there is something bugging me, I scrape at it with my X-Acto knife. Probably not the best way to do it! :-P

I use automotive wet/dry sandpaper. I always use it wet. I start with 400 grit, then 600, then 800 (or if I can find it 1500) grit. Then to get rid of the haze I buff it with a piece of denim, then either buff it with a buffing wheel or coat it with Renaissance Wax.

Re: Sanding Polymer clay

I sand with sandpaper dry, after wiping down with alcohol. The scratches always are unnoticeable once I put glaze on

Automotive sanding sponges are the best!

Re: Sanding Polymer clay

Oh- for scratches, you can coat your piece with liquid polymer clay. It's self leveling and fills in those little scratches and fingerprints.
