Glazing polymer clay help!!!

I am somewhat new to polymer clay. Anyways I've made some amazing creations and then I glazed them and now they look horrible! The glaze did not go on well and you can see all the streaks and everything. I use sculpey glaze and I have tried so many different brushes to put the glaze on and it all tuns out the same! I have ruined some of my favorite creations because of this! My silver clay doesn't show it as much but the black clay shows it terribly! Any advice?! Is it the glaze or my brushes?! thanks in advance!

Re: Glazing polymer clay help!!!

If your brush is clean and smooth then I wouldn't say it's your brush. I've heard from other artists that Sculpey glaze has gone downhill in quality recently. For the last year I have been using Fimo glaze, it's kinda pricey(I always use a coupon at Joans), but I always get a really smooth finish. There are plenty of glazes out there to try. For now I would stop using Sculpey and try to find another glaze.

It's all about experimentation, and now you know Sculpey glaze isn't the best for you. :)

Re: Glazing polymer clay help!!!

I agree, the Sculpey glaze seems to be poor quality now. I use Fimo gloss, floor polish, or Americana glazes. Also make sure your brushes are soft. Get a nice brush and make sure you clean it VERY WELL each time. Otherwise glaze will get stuck in the bristles and you will get streaks.
