Eyepin moves inside clay

Hey there folks! Hope you're having a good day. I could use some tips -

With bits I make for necklaces and charms, I pop the eyepin in, make sure the clay is smushed enough around it, then bake. But sometimes when I am glazing, holding the pin with pliers to glaze the whole thing that the eyepin wobbles inside the charm. I will be gently brushing the figure and the eyepin with rotate... I need it secure so that it won't slip out! Any ideas? x

(I forgot to mention - I do let it fully cool so it's not that :/ )

Sounds like the middle and bottom of your eyepin are straight. Your eyepin needs to have a bend or two to keep if from wobbling. You won't be able to simply push the eyepin in, you'll need to slice the clay and then seal it back up after placing the eyepin.

Ahhh, okay. see i've been trying to make it as straight as possible so not to smush the clay out of place

You could also pull the straight eye pins out dip in glue and put it back :)

Do you know if liquid clay works as well as glue? x

For something like that it's best to use a 2 part epoxy glue. Liquid clay has a slight spongy quality to it and it's likely to pull out of the liquid clay

Re: Eyepin moves inside clay

E6000 works pretty good. most craft stores have it.

metal does not stick to clay unfortunately and glueing is a must!
