Cracks on my roller?

I have an acrylic rolling pin (i think it's the scupley one) and noticed tonight it has cracks along one side of it! It's kept clean and dry in a box and cleaned properly every time I use it, I haven't used it to beat up trolls, so what's happened?
Is this common?

I'm going to have to replace it aren't I? I only bought it in April!

I use an acrylic brayer and they get cracks too.. but it usually takes about 2 years before I have to replace!

I wonder why this one's gone so fast! I've sent an email to the sculpy people.

Is there a better roller out there?

How annoying, I hope they will replace it. I've had mine a couple of years and it's fine which is just as well as I've no memory of where I bought it!

I too have one with cracks, which happened about six months after I purchased it. It does still work but it was disappointing. Good luck with the manufacturer.

I don't know why that would happen? Thanks for the heads up though!! I just bought an acrylic roller yesterday. If mine cracks I will send sculpey an email. We pay a lot of money for our supplies... it should last! :)

Some times it just happens the roller will eventually have a reaction to the clay, that causes the cracks. The rollers that I make and sell usually last me a couple of years but depending on how well I clean them and how often I use them they may breakdown sooner.
