Anyone try baking earring posts into polymer clay?

I like to make earrings with polymer clay and was wondering if anyone else has actually hidden their polymer clay posts within the earring itself? I'm not sure if that make sense, but I tried my best to explain it.

I've baked posts into my earrings plenty of times. You just want to make sure that you use some bake and bond and make sure it is on there tight. That way there is no wiggle room after being baked.

These earrings are actually ball posts I put clay on:

THey have help up really well and I haven't had any issues. Hope that helps. :)

Re: Anyone try baking earring posts into polymer clay?

I haven't used posts, but I do bury my eyepins in a lot of the earrings I make, and that has worked just fine, so I can't imagine your idea wouldn't work! I agree with Rachael about using some Bake n Bond or TLS -- it is just one more measure of security that is nice to have.

~And yes, questions are allowed, and wonderful, here! Lately things have turned more into promo threads, but I like the questions better. ;)

Re: Anyone try baking earring posts into polymer clay?

I bury all my earring posts into the backs of earrings, because I find it's more secure than glue. Usually what I do is bake the clay part of the earring, then I put some liquid clay on the baked back, side a small blob of clay over the earring post so it covers the back of the pad, and then put it on the baked back and smooth out the clay. That way I don't smoosh an unbaked earring when I'm trying to put on the earring post. If that made any sense at all... :)

Re: Anyone try baking earring posts into polymer clay?

I'm a newby, trying to find an outlet for my pent up retirement blues. I would like to make my wife some funky earrings but I don't know where to buy the hypoallergenic stainless steel posts for pierced ears. Can someone help?

Re: Anyone try baking earring posts into polymer clay?

I've always put the post into the clay and then over it with some more to add some extra support before baking. I just think the glue would be more likely to break off, especially if wet c:
