Trump wants the G7 to be the G8, & probably considers the U.N. & NATO a waste of time. Unless of course he can tweet that the one Country invading another is a NATO member so therefore everything is "Okay".

Another point in Trudeau's favour and it was paid on Jan. 11, 2019 in full, within the 30 day due period specified in Financial Regulation 3.5 (by 31 January 2019).  Canada is on the honour roll.

Fun Friday: Brought to you by the Beaverton (I even gotz FB's top fan status--go Beaverton!)

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The international community was left reeling as the United States announced it was pulling its diplomatic mission out of Berlin after President Trump was informed that, like the Kurds, Germany had not helped the Allies during World War II.

“New information has recently been uncovered about World War II in a very, very powerful article in The Scholastic Book of World History,” Trump told reporters. “Not only did the Kurds not help with the landings at Normandy, but neither did the Germans. Nobody knew that before.”

Trump went on to say, “I don’t see why America should trade or make treaties with a country that didn’t have our back in 1944, or in other battles like Gettysburg or Iwo Jima or Endor. In the Battle of Trenton against the Hessians, where were the Germans? Nowhere.”

A directive was issued by the State Department confirming that from here forward trade and military cooperation would only be with countries that fought with the Allied forces – like the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia, and China. In addition, future conflicts would no longer take place on battlefields whose names Americans can’t pronounce and in wars that are too confusing.

“We will only get involved in simple wars,” announced Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. “For example, nothing is simpler than a civil war, and I think we should all brace ourselves for one of those.”

At press time, the Kurds were kicking themselves for choosing to fight on the front line of a U.S.-backed campaign against bloodthirsty terrorists instead of on Omaha Beach 75 years ago.

Trump will probably brag about it tonight at his Louisiana rally - after Barr's visit with Fox News the other night, one does wonder just a bit. After watching Smith a bit "here & there" I'd have said he at least seems to have some journalistic integrity.

Guess he'll get some "love" though & maybe he needs it. Between impeachment investigation, his Syria shamble, the rulings today on his taxes/finances, the emergency declaration on the wall & his "green card rules" he's probably not happy.

And if anyone gets a chance to watch Trevor Noah's show last night, his one clip on a reporter questioning Pence & Pence's response is funny from the comedic standpoint, but then you realize this is the VP of the US.

he's probably not happy

I'm not keeping up but if trump isn't happy then I am, it looks good on him. Let the whining begin.

I seen a few clips from his hate fest last night and one expects crap from him but the folks behind him cheering his crap, including children, is quite something. Obviously issues with corruption is a one way street in trump world. Reality will hit some much harder than others but continue to 'believe' him.

It is really something to watch from a distance but sadly people are dying, including kids, because of trumps lack of morals and love of corrupt leaders. He is a weak fool with power. He and his enablers have blood on their hands.

I'd look for the Trevor Noah clip but can't stand pence, especially on video. It was interesting that the toddler said something last night at his hate fest about vice presidents kissing *ss. So much projection with that fool.

So trump lies and claims he was withholding much needed aid to Ukraine because he was worried about corruption yet now says he is sending troops etc to Saudi Arabia because they agreed to "pay us for help." So it was never about corruption (any thinking person knew that) but he has essentially made US troops a 'guns for hire' operation. That in itself is corrupt but of course trump is too vile and corrupt himself to recognize that. No wonder he turned his back when they murdered a journalist, they have $$$ and trump is like a mob boss and is willing to turn his back if they are the highest bidder.

So much for 'bringing troops home' spiel trump tried to sell as the reason for turning his back on US allies. Seems trump is a puppet for the Saudis too. Is anyone surprised.

From NPR: "Acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan is leaving his post, the latest casualty at the department responsible for protecting U.S. borders.

President Trump said in a tweet Friday night that McAleenan had done an "outstanding job" but that he wanted to "spend more time with family and go to the private sector."

Trump added that he would announce a new acting secretary next week....."

And if I remember correctly, one of Pompeo's top aides resigned today too. I've lost track of Trump's revolving-door numbers.

I like Kimmel's response. trump is too easy to spoof.

Kimmel also didn’t hold back on Trump’s behaviour this week and those around him. “How dumb is this guy?” he asked. “And these jackholes who keep rallying about him are so desperate to defend something they know nothing about, and they’re doing it by discrediting the very House of Representatives that they’re in!”

Trump has also suggested staffers take a lie-detector test after fears over more whistleblowers emerging. “I have three words for that: you go first,” Kimmel joked.

Given the president’s history of lies, he also found it a bizarre suggestion. “This is like pooping your pants and walking around saying, ‘Someone in here stinks,’” he said.

"Researchers from the Aspen Institute are raising concerns about a Florida initiative meant to collect and collate huge amounts of data on schoolchildren in the state....

Florida schools are now required to collect store and crunch data on students in the name of predicting school shootings. The Florida Schools Safety Portal, or FSSP, executive order was issued by Gov. Ron DeSantis earlier this year in response to the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

“No evidence-based research has demonstrated that a data-driven surveillance system such as the FSSP will be effective in preventing school violence. In addition, no information is publicly available about how the database was designed, developed, or tested,” according to preliminary findings by researchers.

The Florida Department of Education did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The law requires Florida school districts to store huge amounts of data in one database, including thousands of hours of video footage, grade cards, student disciplinary records and teacher memos. It also includes information on children collected through “social media monitoring, local law enforcement agencies, the Florida Department of Children and Families, Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Baker Act admissions, and the School Environmental Safety Incident Reporting System, which aggregates data on crime, violence, and disruptive behaviors,” researchers wrote.

Ora Tanner, a tech policy fellow with the Aspen Institute, who led the research, said there is no evidence showing the collection of this type of data can predict whether a student will commit a school shooting....."

We get upset with Google or Facebook or whatever Social Media Company collecting data on kids, but it's apparently okay for the State of Florida to do so. Guess they are hoping that not only is AI truly intelligent but can sense human 'emotion'.

In the meantime, some common sense laws passed by the US House are still sitting being ignored by the Senate.

First thing that came to mind is that they are actually focusing attention on identifying undocumented children & families. Any Bahamas families that came to Florida without the visa that Trump wants now could also be subject to inspection.

Data is only accurate to a point. People move & don't file change of address or say they lived at a certain address & don't like Cruz.

Canada's strict privacy policy would not allow this. The independent privacy ombudsman would have a field day with any provincial govt who tried to do this.

No amount data can tell you when someone suddenly snaps.  Preventing suicides is often difficult because patients often present a happy go lucky personality to the world. Cruz had clear documented signs of depression & of hate for society in general and still was allowed to obtain guns.

Nicholas Cruz was determined not to fit the criteria of the Baker Act

May 2, 2016 Third hand Information received from a neighbour's son that on Instragram, Cruz planned on shooting up the school (Picture of Cruz with guns) One month time delay

Deputy made contact with Cruz, determined that he had knives & BB gun

9/28/2016 - Peer counsellor reported to MSD School Resource Deputy that Cruz had been alleged to have possibly ingested in an attempt to commit suicide and was cutting himself

RED FLAGS ignored.

Cruz indicated that he wanted to purchase a gun for hunting & was in possession of items concerning hate related symbols. communications

RED FLAGS

Mental Health advisor advised that Cruz didn't meet the criteria for the Baker Act

September 28, 2017 - Allegations of self harm, and talking about purchasing a gun. Therapist from Henderson Behavior Health on scene, said that Cruz was not a danger to himself or others.

From May 2, 2016 - Nov. 30, 2017 It was reported that Cruz was collecting guns & knives.

No report taken, Deputy advised the caller to phone Palm Beach Sheriff 's Office

Major mistakes were made by those who should have seen the depression & pattern of behavior. The police were also remiss in not filing reports.

This school shooting should have been prevented, but the resources in place were professionally negligent.

Sounds to me as if the state of Florida just found a new way to make money. What is all that personal data worth? As JMOV pointed out, the red flags often are ignored. If Florida really wanted to stop school shootings, they might take a serious look at gun control.

"The commander of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces told a senior US diplomat, "You are leaving us to be slaughtered," demanding to know whether the US is going to do anything to protect Syrian Kurds as Turkey continues its military operation targeting America's Kurdish allies in Syria.

"You have given up on us. You are leaving us to be slaughtered," Gen. Mazloum Kobani Abdi told the Deputy Special Envoy to the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, William Roebuck, in a meeting Thursday, according to an internal US government readout that has been obtained exclusively by CNN.
"You are not willing to protect the people, but you do not want another force to come and protect us. You have sold us. This is immoral," Mazloum added.
He insisted the US either help stop the Turkish attack or allow the Syrian Democratic Forces to strike a deal with the Assad regime in Damascus and their Russian backers, allowing Russian warplanes to enforce a no-fly zone over northeast Syria, thereby denying Turkey the ability to carry out airstrikes. The US does not want the Kurds turning to the Russians, administration officials say."

Trump is using NATO as an excuse to not act, all he & his admin are willing to say is that Turkey is acting outside of the scope of what was discussed & agreed upon. Maybe Trump thinks he'll get the Nobel Peace Prize if he "mediates" a pact between Turkey & the Kurds (that survive). This is such an ill-thought out decision by Trump that I cannot believe anyone would defend this action.

He is correct it is immoral. That is what happens when an immoral con is given power.

Their blood is on trumps hands, not that he will care. He is sick and I don't doubt he left the Kurds to be slaughtered hoping to change the narrative. Who is going to step up to help the US if they need help, they gave their lives and trump turned his back on them. He bragged about having two trump towers in Turkey, I suppose he thinks protecting his investment is more important than lives, including children. Pro life my *ss.

Trump Tweets: "Somebody please explain to Chris Wallace of Fox, who will never be his father (and my friend), Mike Wallace, that the Phone Conversation I had with the President of Ukraine was a congenial & good one. It was only Schiff’s made up version of that conversation that was bad!"       One of the few people left at Fox that have some integrity so guess Trump needs to go in attack mode again.

"The U.S. has the worst of the ISIS prisoners. Turkey and the Kurds must not let them escape. Europe should have taken them back after numerous requests. They should do it now. They will never come to, or be allowed in, the United States!"  Trump apparently has no idea what a zealot will do to carry out a plan they've devised or to answer a 'calling' they hear.

trump must think that everyone just watches his butt kissers on fox or that they only follow far right blogs like he does and that they will 'believe' him over Mike Wallace. The handpicked bits from the call transcrpt are bad enough but throw in his nutty lawyer, his arrested clients and that trump withheld aid and good luck convincing any thinking person. His days are numbered, maybe he can start up his rightwing network when he is removed.

trump is seriously asking the Kurds for a favour. Sure. He owes Turkey but they already basically told him to kick rocks. Does anyone still believe that countries respect the US more now than pretrump. They are laughing at how weak he is, He is working for Turkey and Russian leaders now. Did anyone vote for them.

People are posting videos of the executed Kurds on twitter, maybe to show trump the result of him caving to Turkey, but I can't see anymore so taking a break. He won't care, he has no heart.

Trump up early this morning - his tweeting started over an hour ago!

"Adam Schiff now doesn’t seem to want the Whistleblower to testify. NO! Must testify to explain why he got my Ukraine conversation sooo wrong, not even close. Did Schiff tell him to do that? We must determine the Whistleblower’s identity to determine WHY this was done to the USA.."  THIS tweet explains why the Democrats are protecting the whistleblower - because Trump Would Expose the individual, then begin the personal attacks & put the person & their family in danger from some of the wackier nut-jobs out there.

"Brian Kilmeade over at fox and friends got it all wrong. We are not going into another war between people who have been fighting with each other for 200 years. Europe had a chance to get their ISIS prisoners, but didn’t want the cost. “Let the USA pay,” they said...Kurds may be releasing some to get us involved. Easily recaptured by Turkey or European Nations from where many came, but they should move quickly. Big sanctions on Turkey coming! Do people really think we should go to war with NATO Member Turkey? Never ending wars will end!" Hmmm, should the Kurds try & protect themselves & families or keep guard over the prison camps? Sanctions, well they might give the US some leverage in the long term, but right now civilians are being killed & Turkey is apparently ready, set & quite able to carry out their planned mission that Trump chose to ignore.
