Advice

I've been part of the planning community here on etsy (buying planner stickers) for almost a year now. I have been using planners since middle school and when it comes to stationary of any kind, I pretty much need out!! Lol. Well I have been wanting to start a shop and make my own stickers. I am buying a silhouette next week and also a printer. However, I have no idea how to actually get started! Sticker paper?! That has been the hardest thing for me. Anyway, basically any and all advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!

Re: Advice

I'm in the same boat as you, jonitay34! I have an original Cricut machine because I wanted to get into scrapbooking all those years ago, but I still have no idea how to use it! 😂 Anyways I've been trying to figure out the most inexpensive way to just get started with making planner stickers and right now I'm just going to use Microsoft Word or Pages (on my MacBook) because Photoshop is too fancy for me! 😋 Also, I've seen that Avery makes Project Sticker Paper (full sheets) and you can upload designs to print on their website, but if you're using the Silhouette I think you need to print the design from their program so you have the guide lines printed on the paper. Hope this helps! Good luck on beginning this journey! 😁👍

Re: Advice

I just Google and YouTube a lot of my questions and am usually able to find some more answers that way. ☺️

Re: Advice

I would love to know more as well, but am happy to share what I use right now. I use an HP laser jet printer and full label sheets from best print I ordered on Amazon.com. I will say this- if using your HP laser printer for stickers, use the tray on the front that is single feed. It allows a slower printing process which gives the ink more time to fuse to the paper. I learned this the hard way- I have to hand cut my stickers out bc I do not have a silhouette.... Yet! Hope this helps.

Re: Advice

Try a few Facebook groups EC Etsy Newbies and a few "cutting" groups based on the device you will be using.

Re: Advice

I am enjoying designing planner stickers and currently am working on digital downloads but I feel like i am limiting my market. I'd like to offer hard copies BUT i do not have an e-cutter. I am wondering is there any affordable printer/kiss cutting companies that folks might recommend for starting out?

Thanks

Re: Advice

I am in the same boat. I am getting lots of views and a few favorites but no one is buying anything. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

My etsy page is www.etsy.com/shop/themecometruedesigns

If anyone has time to take a look and give me some feedback on what may help me get some sales, that would be great.

Thanks!

Re: Advice

@jonitay34 I think you should look into online labels , they're sticker paper quality is great for the price :) Matte and glossy both!!

Printer wise I use the Epson 424 it works great, all my customers say the print quality is great, and it scans and everything even though i haven't used that function yet.
