New to Pinback Buttons - Recommendations on Button Making Machines

Hi Everyone,

I joined this team because I would love to start selling pinback buttons on my Etsy store and was hoping to find some advice. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good, sturdy button making machine? I've seen some pretty expensive ones online and don't know if I should invest in that if a cheaper starter kit will do?

Any advice would be very much appreciated!!!

Go with tecre machines. They are built to last and produce buttons without flaws. Buttonmakers.net and buttonsonline.com are where I've purchased parts/machines.

Hey Jeanette!

Jacob has it right the Tecre Machines are excellent! I bought my machine & parts from buttonbiz.com.

Not quite sure what your master plan is but you could buy custom buttons of the size you'd like from an Etsy seller. And runa test in your store to see if they sell.

Re: New to Pinback Buttons - Recommendations on Button Making Machines

I love the buttonmakers.net site. I would really recommend going with the tecre machines. There are some other good quality machines out there, but Tecre I know for sure is good. I have 4 sizes and they are all Tecres and built to last. They are kind of expensive, but they are worth it. My advice is to stay away from the machines that offer interchangeable dies. When I started out making buttons I looked at a bunch of different ones online and thought I would get one machine and a bunch of dies to go with it. It seemed to make sense, why would you want more than one machine when you could just buy different sized dies to put into one machine? I bought a made in China machine and 4 different sizes, along with 1000 parts for each size. I fought with that thing for days! I am very handy and I tried and tried to get it to work, tightening parts, loosening parts etc. I could never get it to make even one button that wasn't mangled. I gave up on that terrible investment (still hate thinking about it) and purchased the Tecres. SO, speaking from experience get the Tecre machines that are machined properly and you'll be happy you did. Also, if you are trying to figure out what size to get I would recommend a 1.25" over a 1" because it is very hard to read text on the 1" size and the 1.25" is still a cute, small button that people will wear. That being said you can make the 1" into cute little magnets. (You can also make the 1.2" into magnets, but I like the little ones better). I also have a 1.75" which people like, it is larger, but still small enough to wear. I do find people don't wear them as much though. Older people always want the larger sizes!! :)
Good luck!
