After closing down my Pattern site some months ago, I decided to start it up again yesterday. Does anyone know though how long it takes before it can be found online??
I can't remember if there is a timeframe before it actuals goes live, or maybe I've just forgot a step?????
I was going to work on adding items to the shop today, but decided to wait until I know it's a go for sure.
@ReplacementHardware, you are not going to like this answer and I do not know if it will actually answer your question.
I do not know how long it is before you can actually find your specific site when you do a search on google/yahoo/bing. I do know that it took me about 3 mos before I started getting any REAL traffic or that I could find "my stuff" when I did a search. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem finding my shop or my stuff now...and I get regular traffic, but it did take a while. That is why it always makes me cringe when someone says that have bailed on pattern after 2 mos because they didn't get any traffic.
I knew you wouldn't like the answer. Sorry! Please do stick it out; I do not think, you will be disappointed in the long run.
Thanks so much for the help, AtMemoryLane!!
I remember from before that it definitely takes time for the traffic to start, especially because I didn't do any Social Media. I did just check though, to be sure I had checked all the boxes and stuff. And found my original domain name had expired, so I opted for a new one. Hopefully that may have been the issue.
This time I'm going to use some Social Media, so wanted to put a few listings on there from my Pattern site. But if someone sees them on the SM and then can't find them, well that will not be a good thing.
I'll see how things go by tomorrow. Hopefully I've set things up the correct way and didn't miss a specific click.
@ReplacementHardware, I am anti social (I do not do any social media), but I still get indexed. But as many will tell you, like @funkydreamsmosaics, SM will definitely get you noticed quicker.
I saw (and posted a reply to) your thread in the forums. Are you asking when you can type in your domain name and have it come up? Or when google and other search engines will find it?
I do find a few social media posts will get it indexed by google fairly quickly. But if you are posting a link from your site, people can just follow that link and it doesn't matter if google doesn't know you yet.
I wanted to put some of my Pattern listings on a Facebook page I started, But am afraid if someone wanted to go to the listing, they couldn't find it, because I don't think my Pattern site can be found as yet. I hope this makes sense.
I did figure my old domain had expired so I selected a new domain, and that seemed to get things rolling a bit. But now when I go to my Pattern site from my Etsy Dashboard, I can only get to the 'Web Editor'. If I try to go to 'my site' {pattern} I get a headline that the site is Not safe.
I should now how to get all this set up right, but my mind has sure shelved the information. I sure wish I could find the 'shelf' it's on! lol
@ReplacementHardware If you are having a problem with your security certificate, I think you need to contact Etsy Support directly.
Thank you so very much, funkydreamsmosaics. I think that's a great idea. I probably haven't done something correctly.
You were correct funkydreamsmosaics. I contacted Etsy yesterday and they said it was a Tech issue, and a Tech would E-mail me with help.
Hopefully I can get things up and going real soon!
Thank you So Very Much for all the Great help!!
Oh, my word! I made a couple of calls to Etsy and to the Domain Co. and finally figured out the issue. I had let my original domain expire, and someone else has registered it now with another company. If only I'd had more foresight than hindsight! lol
So I've changed the domain and now my shop is up and running.
Thanks So Very Much again for all the Wonderful help!! I am truly grateful!!
I finally got my 'reopened' Pattern site opened! Now to start filling it up with my overflowing collections!
