I've been adding new jewelry to my Pattern site and not onto Etsy (as I didn't make the jewelry, so it's not Etsy legal). Each time I publish a new Pattern only listing, all of the 6,000+ Etsy users who have favorited my shop get updates via the little notification bell icon in the right hand top corner of the Etsy page. Many of my repeat customers have learned about my Pattern shop, via social media, but the majority of those who have favorited my shop don't know about my Pattern shop.
So last night I got a message from a frustrated shopper who asked why I keep posting jewelry that is not available? At first I couldn't figure out what she was talking about, but then it clicked. She sees the update in the notifications, clicks on the little picture, is taken to my Etsy shop, and wa-la, the jewelry is not there. I let her know that I'd been adding a lot of new jewelry, which I can't put in my Etsy shop because it's new, but if she goes to romaarellano.com/shop, she'll find it there.
I used to put a business card in my orders, and will start doing that again alerting every customer that I have a standalone domain. But is there anything else I can do for all those folks who've favorited my site and are clicking on update notifications and not finding the jewelry in my Etsy shop? I use Etsy Plus and have a photo that says "new jewelry everyday at romaarellano.com", and maybe I need to plaster that in the Announcement, the banner, and even start putting it in listings.
Anyone else have this issue? Any other thoughts? Thanks in advance for your input.
