Custom orders through Pattern?

Hi all 

New Etsy/Pattern person here.  I do custom orders which are digitally downloaded.  I'm currently in the free trial of Pattern so that makes me a raw newbie. 

I can't see a straightforward way to implement custom orders - the customer needs to send me photos before I can start work on their portrait.  Through Etsy I use the message system but the contact page on Pattern has no image upload button.  Is there anyone here who does custom/personalised orders?

Also, how do digital downloads work on Pattern or don't they work? 

Would integrating Mailchimp make attaching images back and forth easier?   Can Mailchimp do a pop-up email list opt-in which works on Pattern?

Phew, sorry for all the questions.  I'm wondering if unsubscribing from my (expensive) Squarespace sub was a mistake!

I don't do custom orders, so I can't help much there.

I know there are digital download sellers that have Pattern sites, so I believe that works similarly as on Etsy.

The Mailchimp integration doesn't do a pop-up.  It will put a sign-up at the bottom of your page.  Since it's just a sign-up for a newsletter, I have no idea how that would help with sending images?  

Hopefully others have some better answers for you.
