Copyright Infringement and Competition

I am a newer shop owner and also new to this team. Thank you for allowing me to be a member!

I have received several special requests to make items that cross over in to copyright infringement...Hello Kitty, Disney, NFL, NHL, My Little Pony, etc. I refuse to do it but I always explain why I cannot do it and I always offer an alternative such as similar colors, similar icons, etc. but the customer refuses saying that's fine because they can always find someone else on Etsy to do it for them and indeed they do! Striving to be ethical in my business but being hurt by others who are either not informed or don't care about the policies.

Has anyone else had a similar experience and if so how do you handle it?

Hello Sharon, Many years ago, on another online venue .. I used to make and sell items made with Disney stickers ... At the time I was not aware of the copyright infringement ... since I have joined Esty, I have learned a wee bit more information on the subject, through discussions with other Etsians .. and stay away from any Disney etc ... items ...
because if you are caught .. it can be costly ...
