Creating a deckle edge

Has anyone had success in tearing their paper to make a deckle edge? I have tried numerous different techniques, and every one looks, well, like a "fake" deckle edge. Anybody have any suggestions or techniques they use that actually look close to a real deckle edge? PS: I've only tried using BFK paper.

I have seen success, though I haven't done it myself, where, first you tear the paper and then spritz it and scrape the edge with a clean razor

tuns of work, but it does look real

Well, 88... I tried your technique and I must say, it works and looks the most natural of any of the other techniques I have tried. But, as you said, it's a TON of work.

Thanks for the info!

Mine never look that great either. I've seen that you can buy 'deckle' rulers to tear paper with. No idea if they really work, anyone tried one?

I made one of those rulers out of a piece of plexi. Looks just like I expected: lousy.
