Hi all! I wanted to give a couple pointers to any newbies who need help with SEO (search engine optimization). Please use this thread to also share any advice of your own, or ask any questions you would like answered!
I just gave these tips to a new member and I'm going to copy and paste them here:
I'm not an expert, but I think I can help some of you get your items found a little easier by buyers. In order to get found in search, you need to have tags that match your title, preferably word for word. Two and three word phrases are preferable to tags with only one word.
Take this necklace for example:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/227335528/necklace-double-collar-of-yarn-and?ref=fp_item&aref=367872653...I would suggest changing the title to something like:
"Double Collar Crochet Necklace in Black and Purple, Beaded Choker, Statement Necklace, One of a Kind, Unique Gift for Her"
Then, make your tags match in as close to the same order as possible to your listings title. In this case, I would use these tags:
double collar, crochet necklace, black and purple, beaded choker, black beaded choker, statement necklace, one of a kind, unique gift, unique gift for her, gift for her, purple crochet, crochet choker"
I suggest playing with your titles and tags using these ideas, but of course it's up to you! It has taken me two whole years to finally understand how to start ranking higher in search, so I am happy to help newbies get there faster!
