Do you ever meet up w/ customers for local orders?

I've had an order recently and that person wants to meet up to save shipping. I am not sure how much I can really trust people I meet online so that is why I'm a bit hesitant to go forward and meet up with this customer. If anyone has any advice or has been through a situation like this and actually met up with their customer, please share!

I did a meet up with a customer once. She was ordering from South Carolina but coming to Orange County to a wedding and wanted to pick it up. I met her at a restaurant.

I would suggest meeting at a public place. Maybe bring someone with you, a freind, husband etc.

I agree with Duetta bring someone with you. Starbucks are good places to meet at. Make sure that all the payment is squared away beforehand. You are just meeting to deliver the purchase (or taking there is good too)

We've meet people before where we buy something from Craigslist I think it's good to bring someone no matter whether you meet to sell or buy... gotta be safe nowadays.

Re: Do you ever meet up w/ customers for local orders?

I have met a few customers to drop off work only because they lived around the corner. However, if it is to discuss a possible commission in person or receive money, I would meet them in a public place, like Starbucks.

I have had a few people ask to come to my personal studio, but as I still work from home, I feel that is a bit too much for me to handle. Once I have my own separate studio, then I'd feel more comfortable. :)

Please note, that I only met those in person that I felt remotely comfortable with. If you get a weird vibe, go with your gut feeling and not do it. However, don't alienate your customers... it's a fine line, but safety first!
