We have some amazingly generous members and leaders on our team and, at times, they are willing to spend twenty to sixty minutes of their busy day to write a shop critique for other members. When they share their time that way, I am always so thankful for the great people we have on our team.
The problem is, there are far more requests for critiques than there are moments in our days to write them. Personal critiques take a lot of time to write. If you have requested one, and no one has given you feedback, please don't take it personally. We are all busy people.
There are things you can do to attract more feedback, though. The most useful thing is to be specific. Instead of asking for a general critique, do a little homework, read the threads with critiques in them and learn the basics there. Then, when you think you have gathered all the general information, find one or two things to ask the group, such as, "Are my pictures too dark?" Or, "Are my descriptions interesting enough?" It is far easier for us to answer a specific question than to take an hour or so to tell you everything you can do to improve.
As a group, we can all contribute to shop critiques with just one or two suggestions. You don't have to go through everything, you can glance at their shop and tell them what you like and what can be improved upon, taking only a few minutes of your time. If lots of us did that, the shop owner will have plenty of great ideas on how to improve his or her shop.
In this group, we are all both newbies AND mentors, so let's help each other out as much as time permits.
