I have only made 4 sales (to friends) this year and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any input?

Sad to say, I have the same issue. I opened 6 months ago and only sold one item. I read the Etsy handbook and one thing that stuck out for me was the SEO Google language. Maybe people aren't finding you because of keywords. The Etsy handbook informs to use less common words in your description and key words so when a person is searching for what you have, your store could be the first one listed, based on a more accurate description. Eh, what do I know? All I do know is that for 14 years I was in corporate America advertising hell. Now, I'm a stay at home mom and to be honest, if nothing I make sells, who cares, really? I love what I make, I love what I do, so it's never even close to a day in the old office. Advice: re-read the Etsy handbook. It's great info and what if people just aren't finding you based on a description? That's a simple fix! Good luck!

I would say list more items @Sunshine Barney. I feel the same way you do. But I did notice an increase in activity once I started listing more. Also if you have a social media presence that seems to bring more traffic if you post your items every few days. Good luck!

Oh one more thing! Your pictures are really good. And I noticed you didn't have any policies. People like to know what to expect from shipping to turn around time. Hope you get some sales soon :)

When I was on ebay I found the more listing I had the more people found me. Just a thought. I also do searches for the same kind of thing I'm selling and model my listing after it. Seemed to work out. I was making about 5k per month on ebay then got banned for using stock photos. I thought banning me was a bit extreme but oh well. Glad I found etsy!

I also think that etsy should regulate the prices. You will never sell if the same item you are selling for $20 is being sold in another shop for $3.00. I don't know how people do it. I sell my waist jewelry around $15.99 but I have found some shops with the jewelry for $3.00. Wowww

Hi Brennah - I am new here although I did open my store a couple of years ago (I have recently changed direction) ie. I used to sell craft supplies (unsuccessfully) and now have started repainting Bratz dolls. I think one of my problems is not having that many products but I am working on it. I visited your shop and you have some really lovely jewellery - I particularly like the crystal quartz. I do think your photography could be improved upon in some pics as it was difficult to see some of the more delicate earrings against a busy background - I also read somewhere that it is better to photograph on a cloudy day rather than in full sun (maybe more difficult in Honolulu than Melbourne!) ;) - I would be appreciative of any words of advice that anyone has for me - thanks.

I think that you should just put yourself out there- using social media and use tags so you'll be found in searches. Promoting yourself on teams helps also.

I have been open for a little under a month and have also found the more items i add the more views I get. I share the link to every listing on all my ssocial media pages as well, its time consuming but flooding anything I can think of with my images and contact ininformation has to eventually pay off, so hears to hoping anyway :) Most of my concern for any success on etsy with my items does revolve around pricing with the wonder of over/under

I opened my shop a year ago and this year I started making sales I've made 97 sales since I've opened. I'm in the process of adding more items to my store. I haven't did that much advertising I just try to add more products so I'll get more traffic. Feel free to look at my store.
