Lost and in need of support!

Hi, I'm a new shop owner. I deal only in pearl and bead necklaces I have designed and made. Now that I've stocked my shop I am at a loss as to the next step. Can anyone explain the Promote Listings to me. Is this costly and effective. Any other good advice.

I checked out your shop and to me it presents beautifully. Your necklaces are gorgeous!

I have had no experience with the Promote Listings so cannot give you feedback or an opinion on that.

What I have really focused on for my shop are my item titles. Working and reworking them so that when a potential buyer is doing an Etsy search my items will be found. Before our items can sell they need to be found.

Your titles are beautifully articulated but I am not sure they will enable your items to be easily found. If I may I would suggest several things: first, do your own search, as if you were a buyer, and use the word(s) or simple phrases they might use. Then click on some of the listings and see what others are using in their titles. When I adjust my titles I then do a search for some of the words or phrases I have used to see if they work to find my item.

The other thing I have done is read some of the articles in the Seller's handbook to get ideas for titles.

If you check the list of our team's discussions, there is one about a Pinterest board. Pinning some of your items is another way promote your necklaces.

Hope that helps a bit. I understand feeling lost and frustrated. Setting up a shop takes hours and so much energy. But hang in there . . . I am told it takes time. And there are many of us on this team in a similar place to you.

I do not know anything about promote listings either... I was thinking about looking into it in a few months if other ways don't work.

Also follow what Joy says...what you put in your title, reading the handbooks, and making sure you are tagging the right words so people will search for you item.

What I have learned thus far is to be active within etsy. Follow people, favorite their shops, like their items...this way they may like and follow you back which creates a networking tree and get's your name out there.

Also expand your business to other social media (instagram, pinterest, facebook) that way you are reaching many other people around the world and not just people who look on Etsy.

I know it can be very overwhelming, but take one step at a time. For instance right now I have Instagram and Pinterests and this week I just started working on a facebook page. It takes time, but just be patient but active and things will change!

Hi Guys, thanks for the warm welcome and all the good advice. I'll definitely look into my item titles and see if I can improve on those. And the advice to favourite and follow other people is very wise. That way I'll get known. I have my items on Pinterest, Facebook and Twitter. I'll look at the Forum on the promoted listings, Joy. Perhaps a few good pointers there.

Hi, Joan! I have no a big success here for now :), but let me suggest you what I do and what makes more reviews in my shop: 1) Choose different tags in different items, I see, you have the same. It gives more people the chance to find you. 2) change tags and watch in the "stats" how the new tags affect. 3) change Categories, 4) look to the tags which drop when you type your tag in a search, and use them.

You are not alone!! I also opened my shop this month but with about half the number of items you have, with no luck. Your jewelry is beautiful as are your photos so I think you're off to a good start. Everyone's advice has been helpful as I read the comments. One thing I did read (think on pinterest) is that when you open your shop don't list all your items at once. Start with a bunch and add items daily or every few days. That way it keeps your shop in the most recent searches. I also try to use all available space when doing a title listing-use as many words as possible to increase chances of a buyer finding you. The word wedding might be very helpful in your title listing or tags. I did notice bridesmaid but you mau appeal to more people with "wedding". just some random thoughts-I am also trying to figure out how to get found among the many sellers!! Good luck and don't give up!

Hi Pat, you make me feel so much better. I've been working on those description titles and the tags. Will see how they pan out and then make changes if necessary. Wedding is a good suggestion and I will look into it. I find it a bit confusing to remember all the stuff when listing - but I try. Best of luck to you too. I'm in no great hurry as will see how the year goes.

Your work is beautiful!
One thing I am going to try for next month(my sister suggested it to me) is a friends and family coupon. She asked if she could email her friends information about my shop and include a coupon for 10% off.
I am also thinking about putting it up on my facebook page also-
I am not sure if that will work for you or not, but I would think that it would at least drive more traffic to my shop.
