What makes YOU a nerd?

Hey all, I thought it would be interesting to meet you all and find out what makes us all nerds.

I love SciFi of any and all types and am a huge browncoat. I love World of Warcraft (as you can probably tell from my store) and many other MMORPG's. I have been a paper and pencil RPG gamer for 20 years (yikes!) and have even been involved in a medieval reenactment club. I have I am a graphic designer and iTunes App developer by trade, with a love of crafting and handmade everything.

Where to begin? My fanatic love of comic books, my affinity for all things Dungeons and Dragons. My unbreakable video game habit, my adoration of Joss Whedon and all things sci fi, my devotion to Tolkien, or my collection of Simon Pegg DVDs.

Who knows. Maybe it's just the glasses.

My nerddom started with X Files and X men. Now it's all about Doctor Who,Supernatural,The Dresden FIles and weekend DnD with my bf and friends. :D Also a huge fashion history nerd. Or rather history and jeopardy obsessed

I am a HUGE nerd. I love Doctor Who and hate when people call it Dr. Who, which is weird because it doesn't make sense (his name is THE DOCTOR, it shouldn't be abbreviated!).

I also love The Hunger Games (went to the midnight showing) and Harry Potter (missed all the midnight showings because I got into it too late, except I saw Part 2 in theaters the day it came out)!

If you look in my room, you know I'm a nerd. Me and my friend are "Doctor Who Nerd Buddies". :P

I have a cardboard TARDIS (Got it for my birthday), the Eleventh Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver, 2 Doctor Who tees, a full on Eleventh Doctor costume (yep, I own suspenders and a bow tie), and I have a plushie TARDIS that comes on and lights up and makes the noise. :D Oh, and two books, and 2 posters. I have a Gryffindor scarf, a sorting hat I made myself, Harry Potter glasses, and more. And I have a Mockingjay tee and a Mockingjay pin. I'm a BIG nerd. <3

I also freak when I see anything involving Doctor Who, Hunger Games, or Harry Potter. NERDS UNITE!

PS: I should also mention: I won Nanowrimo last year, I had a Doctor Who themed party for my 13th birthday, I like theater, but musical theater more than regular theater....and...that's it. :)

What makes me a nerd? Well lets see i keep my comic books where most people keep their porn; Ive been playing DnD and MTG for years. I proudly wear my H2G2 ink on my arm and i was 1st in line for HP DH 2. plus as you can tell from my inkings i sell im a bit of a doctor who fan. These are just a few of my more nerdy traits

Well, I had Return of the Jedi memorized from front to back when I was 14, so that's a start. :)
But Star Wars is just my nerd bedrock. I also love fantasy (Lord of the Rings especially) and Renn Faires, I've played D&D (although I'm not a hardcore player, a lot of my friends are, and I recently wrote/filmed a short movie about D&D)... and so much more.
I want to be a screenwriter, which is sort of a nerdly profession as well...

I feel like I have come home!

Like many, I started playing AD&D in high school, and I was and am an avid reader. It is a hazard of my job. My undergraduate degree is in computer science, and my master's is in information and library science.

"I am proud of what I am....I...I..am a librarian!"

I have been known to have geeky discussion with another librarian at the reference desk. Our topics have ranged from discussing the Avengers movie and how her husband had points deducted off of his nerd card since he did not know who Stan Lee was (gasp) to string theory to relativity. Einstein is my hero.

One of my highlights was that I met R.A. Salvatore and his son and had my picture taken with them. It was at a librarians' conference of all things:)

I have played in Ren Faires, and my husband has a collection of medieval weaponry on the office wall. I can always be counted on to provide something unusual for a library display.

While not a writer myself (though I secretly long to be one) I support NaNoWriMo in the library. Maybe I will participate and win this year:)

I almost forgot to mention that I have my own Warhammer 40k army though I am ashamed to say it is not completely painted. I also understand the phrase "For the Hoard!"

Hello I am Michaela, and I am a nerd.

I don't need a 12 step program for I fell down all the steps into the deep pit of the loveliness that is nerdom, a long, long time ago!!

Oh were to begin.
I had a pong complete with two hand-twist controllers and an orange gun.
Next came the Atari 2600 - Missile Command still gives me nightmares!
I lived in a neighborhood of all boys so when D&D came out there was no stopping us and our all day marathons, pencil, paper, dice and dungeon master!
Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Sega Saturn, Xbox, Xbox360. Yes I am totally in love with Borderlands and all their expansions - especially the Zombies!!
I am a librarian and have fallen hard for anything Dystopian = Hunger Games, The Bone Trilogy, The Chemical Garden Trilogy, Divergent Trilogy, and Life as we knew it; to name a few and of course Twilight, Lemony Snickett and Harry Potter. I am currently reading Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and enjoying it tremendously!!
My favorite movies have to be LOTR, Harry Potter, Star Trek (of any kind) X-men, Matrix, pretty much anything Sci-Fi, Fantasy or 1800's British Stories.
The original Star Trek reruns were still on television when I was little so I am not so much into them BUT...Next Generation and Voyager are (gasp) well, I am in love with them. Does Commander Riker make anyone else swoon? Also I would love to hug Nelix :)
I love to write flash fiction, poetry and short stories; have cats as children and craft like a maniac (when I am not working, cooking and baking)!!
I know there is more, but I don't want this to be too long!

I love the X-men 90's cartoon series and I am a huge Star Wars fan!! Jabba the Hutt is my favorite! Recently I started reading the old X-Factor comics just so I could read about Archangel, who I favor out of all the X-men. Yes, I will admit to going to AM2. I am the biggest fashion nerd, I will go to all kinds of cultural events, such as an anime convention to see what people are passionate about wearing! :) Fashion is influenced from a combination of culture, history and technology.

I didn't realise I was a nerd until I started working as a games tester and fit right in.

I specialise in Nintendo Compliance which means I get to be really nerdy about what Nintendo will and wont allow on their platform. Before that I was a graphic designer that wrote Nintendo games reviews and love to craft. :)

My friend slowly turned me into a nerd, or geek as she calls us, a few years ago. I love Harry Potter, Firefly, superhero movies, and fantasy characters. I really enjoy making items that are inspired by some of my favorite characters :) The funny thing about my friend and I is that we aren't youngster either...lol!

I'm a big fantasy reader and have read (and loved) the Wheel of Time books, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter (duh), Hunger Games and Collins's lesser known kid's fantasy series called Gregor the Overlander, Inheritance, Chronicles of Narnia, LOTR, Escape the Mask trilogy (REAM THEM), etc.

I'm a Browncoat for sure, am just getting into and loving Doctor Who, have two League of Legends accounts, and get queasy inside when I see people make no-brainer grammatical or spelling mistakes. Also, "awe" is an emotion of reverence, and "aw" indicates that you find something cute. Just saying.

Well...to start off I work at Gamestop and yes Video Games are a VERY big part of my life. Top 5 without thinking would be 1. Link to the Past 2. Half-Life 2 3. Persona 4 4. Odin Sphere 5. Mass Effect 3. I love Battlestar Galactica, FireFly and Fringe. Love reading comics. Favorite of all time is a tie between Watchmen and Sin City. Even got a couple tattoos from my favorite games and comics. (Plan to get more) Im a huge obsessive avid collector of figurines and collectibles from my favorite games and comics. Love me some anime too like Elfen Lied and Gunslinger Girls and I love to read. Currently reading The Picture of Dorian Gray.
