I made these necklaces out of rocks with natural holes. The holes were created from being churned in the lake. These rocks I found at my grandmothers house 4 blocks from Lake Michigan. She uses them in her art as I use them in my jewelry. The necklaces remind me of care-free endless summers there on the lake.

This was one of my first pieces, and still one of the favourite things I've ever made. Not as fancy or complicated as later projects, but such a vivid and beautiful colour.

I remember the frosty February morning I photographed this and some other items.

I still go outside with only the vaguest idea about how I'm going to display something - and just wander around until something presents itself.

Here it was an old tree stump, over the hill and so out of the frost, the low winter lighting made my piece glow like a fairy crown and cast a fascinating fretwork of shadows.

I could probably make far more professional photos now, but I just really like these and probably can't replicate the effect anyway.

We have semi-tame local deer, that wander into people's gardens to snack on all those lovely succulent flowerbeds.

My mum has been feeding them for years - leaving carrot peels, apple cores etc out for them to eat, instead of our vegetable patch (which looks like Fort Knox - yet still sometimes they manage to jump over the fence).

We're now onto third-generation deer, each more tolerant of our presence than the last. Every time we're gardening, they show up, hover about on the edge of the forest, hoping for roots and plant cuttings. Really cute and great for photography.

I just completed a deeply relief carved gourd featuring my own hand painted design of round-tailed ground squirrels and primroses. This artwork was inspired by the mischievious little squirrels that frequent the bird feeders in my backyard. The round-tails remind me of miniature prairie dogs.
