Venturing into knitted stuff. Also some basic ?s Is unique a bad thing?

There aren't a TON of faux furs on Etsy so here goes nothing:

I'm not sure that I can compete with the amazing talent of knitting that goes on around here so I tried to emphasize the silly. Good? Too far?

Do you ever feel that your shop is TOO eclectic? Is it better to have items that no one else has or is that too challenging because no one knows to look for it on Etsy?

YO! That is pretty awesome. I think you will find a market for these things on etsy.

I think unique is better. No one can compete with personality.

I think eclectic can be successful. ie. all the "weird" tagged treasury lists.

I agree, I think tagging with "weird" helps. I put that on all my stuff that I think some people would make a face at. Being totally open with the eclecticness is a good thing!

Is the scarf brown and black or just black? The face looks black in one of the photos.

I think it is pretty awesome. There is definately a market for things like that on here, it is just sometimes hard to figure out what to tag the items as.

One thing I have learned with items that are a bit odd is that you HAVE to put in the maximum amount of tags with anything you can possibly think of. Also, in the tagging lines you can put like "scarf neck warm" in one single tag line, and it will use those words SEPARATELY in the search bar. That way you can get maximum search possibilities.

It is all shades of brown (except the tip o the tail). I am trying to use natural light in some of the photographs to see if that improves my sucky photography. But I still have trouble with some shades. It's chocolate brown so my camera made it almost black. I sat and stared at the tags and wondered what I should put on there and, oddly enough, as soon as I was done I thought of adding "brown" in there. Maybe I should just edit that right now.

Isn't eclectic the only way to roll? Sometimes things look so slick and corporate that I forget that we're supposed to be about selling handmade items! So it's great to see people trying out new things and doing unique stuff.

I feel like eclectic is a better representation of what Etsy SHOULD be. But then I see all those uber-precious photos of hipsters in cowls and driftwood with lightbulbs and I feel like my shop isn't shiny enough. What the hell! I'm happy with my 11 sales!!
