Holiday Craft Shows

Does anyone know of any Holiday Craft shows that are coming up in October/November/December here in Minneapolis or St. Paul? Any church craft shows or community center craft fairs?

Re: Holiday Craft Shows

@Helen
Gingerbread is HORRIBLE - I do not recommend wasting your money
The last one I attended (I was not in it - I learned my lesson) there were maybe 12 vendors and maybe 4 were handmade - I felt awful for the vendors who wasted their money.

Carousel are slightly better if you can contend with resellers and mall shoppers who are not really interested in handmade stuff.

Just my opinion :)

@Kathy
Thank you for your advice. I think I will register for the Carousel and go to the Gingerbread ones just to see what they are like.

Re: Holiday Craft Shows

You can find many local shows by starting with these websites:

http://www.craftlister.com/
festivalnet.com

I do not recommend shows promoted by Gingerbread or Carousel as they tend to be in the aisleways of shopping malls and do not attract customers looking for handmade. They also contain a large contingent of buy/sell importers.

I am a participating artist in the following shows every year. I have vetted these shows and can attest that they are great shows to sell my handmade pottery/ceramic jewelry. These shows have big crowds of buying customers. I believe that these shows are completely booked already (except the Hudson Boutique, but it is filling fast), but you can always contact these shows to get on the mailing list for next year. Be sure, next year, to get your registrations in right away, because these shows fill quickly. Also, you might want to go as a customer this year, just to check them out first before committing to participate next year.

Nov 1, Salem Covenant Church Art Fair, New Brighton, MN
Nov 8, Shepherd of the Lake Church Holiday Craft Fair, Prior Lake, MN
Nov 22, North Branch ArtsFest, North Branch, MN
Dec 6, Hudson Holiday Boutique, Hudson, WI
Dec 13, Minnesota Womens Art Festival, Minneapolis

Google these shows for contact info. Some have websites or facebook pages as well. Good luck Abby!

Re: Holiday Craft Shows

I'd like to add that I have been hearing about the following show at Canterbury Downs for years. It is HUGE, HUGE, HUGE and the booth fee is HUGE, HUGE, HUGE, but handmakers claim that the sales are through the roof. There are so many customers that you have to have a TON of product to sell. It is a four day show. The promoter charges about $10 admission to customers, so the promoter is making some good coin on this show. I might just have to go as an attendee to check it out:

November 13, 14, 15, 16, 2014

1100 Canterbury Rd.
Shakopee, MN 55379

Re: Holiday Craft Shows

I am coordinating the craft sale at the annual "Holiday on 44th" festival in the Victory neighborhood of Minneapolis.

Holiday on 44th
Craft Sale at Patrick Henry High School
4320 Newton Avenue North
Friday, December 5, 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Cost for a table is $20 if registered & paid before November 15 (if space remains after that, tables are $25 each)

A bit more about Holiday on 44th - We are in our 16th year of of this festival! 44th Avenue is closed off from Morgan to Upton Avenue, and attractions like magicians, fire jugglers, music and ice carving happen inside and outside. Horse-drawn wagons deliver guests from the Loring Community School to Patrick Henry High School.

The craft sale takes place in the gym of Patrick Henry high school, where there will be musicians, face painters, gingerbread house making and a silent auction.

If you would like to rent a table, please download the contract linked below and mail to the address on the contract.

If you have any questions, contact me via conversations or email ho44th@yahoo.com.

Thanks!
