Has anyone tried networking events?

Just wondered if anyone's tried out networking events in Melbourne? I notice that a lot of councils here run free women's networking events amongst other things and am thinking about giving it a go.

Monash City Council runs free women's networking events - and they are quite useful. I've gone to a couple - including Artist based ones (not directed at women per se, but attended mostly by women!) Check out your local council's and you will get in touch with other business women near you.
