Re: Supply resources

Mask forms: I've been able order wholesale from Darice. They offer the traditional half face, cats eye, full face, oval, stick, etc forms in white, black, gold. There are minimums. It's a bit of an investment up front, but it beats paying retail. I'm not at the point of making my own forms.

Re: Supply resources

I've been ordering wholesale masks from Accessory Wholesale Inc. and am pleased with their product. They have all types of mask forms including some simple papier mache masquerade masks. If you're interested in purchasing blank masquerade masks, I would recommend ordering the silver ones and spray painting them white. The white masks are actually a bit more expensive than the colored ones! Here is their website:

Re: Supply resources

For Etsy selling, I find that I am most cost-effective when I'm buying shipping/packaging/art supplies on line. Here are a few of my favorite sites.

U-Line: they sell boxes and packaging materials of all sorts. I buy wonderful sturdy cardboard boxes (generally they cost between .35 and .65 cents each, for 7x7x7 squares and bigger!) made of recycled materials from them in bundles of 25 each...they don't mind small orders, they ship same-day, and you can call them 24 hours a day. Website: http://www.uline.com/

Bags Unlimited: great bags of every possible size, will ship small orders. Website: http://www.bagsunlimited.com/

Various art supplies: Jerry's Artarama. This site is AWESOME. Never buy anything at your local craft/art store until you check this site first. Prices are less than half what you pay at most retail stores...in some cases less than 1/3 ( I buy Liquitex soft-body acrylic paints from Jerry's for $3.99...same paint costs $12.99 at AC Moore). Worth the cost of shipping. Website: http://www.jerrysartarama.com/

Hope this helps a little.

Re: Supply resources

The best place I've found for feathers is in Las Vegas, but they do sell on-line as well. The great thing is that she will do custom dying!

Re: Supply resources

Does anyone have a source for wholesale pheasant feathers? Either Etsy or other online is okay, preferably ships for the US.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Supply resources

Though they are useful and colorful, dyed feathers aren't usually what I am looking for- does anyone have a good source for more natural looking large feathers?

I am working on some projects with a Native American theme and am looking for plain (or striped, speckled) black, white, brown feathers- I have found a few suppliers here that supply wild turkey feathers but I am now looking for more variety, something a little unusual but more "natural" looking-

thanks!

Re: Supply resources

Does anyone have a good source for plain basic leather masks to be used as a base for more elaborate creations?

Re: Supply resources

fancyfeather.com. I haven't ordered from them since they were ostrich.com, but at least then they had a WIDE selection of natural feathers. Lamplight feathers has some specialty stuff, too

Re: Supply resources

ok, I take it back- it seems that when they changed their name, they phased out the pheasant feathers. Still have duck. turkey, coque, peacock, and ostrich, though, in both natural and dyed. Lamplight still has pheasant.

Re: Supply resources

I ordered feathers from plumesnfeathers.com and am very happy with the experience. The prices were good, and shipping fast.

Re: Supply resources

Just wanted to shout out a big second to U-line for shipping products! I always love anything I've used from them, and their customer service is great, too. :D Can't wait to check out some of these feather sources.
