Any advice for a new mask craftier?

So i just started making masks about a year ago so I decided to try selling some here on etsy. even now when it's close to Halloween they aren't selling very well and i was wondering if it's time to throw in the towel or maybe i'm doing something wrong?

any advice that you could give would be gratefully accepted.

Hi Ashley, it's hard to get seen here so you may do better with more listings. It's also worth filling in your 'about' page and checking your policies to make sure you're complying with distance selling regulations. Have a look round some of the other team shops - since we're your competition, it's worth comparing your shop to others as if you were a customer :)

More listings, yes. And start thinking about your target audience. Who are you selling to? Proms? Sweet 16 parties? Halloween? Masked balls? Ren Fairs? Your items are creative. Maybe directing the creativity towards certain events would help.

I found out that my little leather and lace or brocade eye masks were being bought by girls for their dance recitals! I was designing them with "grown-up" masquerade balls in mind yet there was a whole other market.

Re: Any advice for a new mask craftier?

Hello Ashley,

A few suggestions for you. A lot of your photos seem rather blurry, and this could be turning customers away. Many customers like to compare and analyze masks on Etsy before they choose the right one, and if they can't clearly see all the intricate details on your masks they will choose something else. Quality pictures will also lure customers to pick you out from the hundreds of other masks out there.

Also, your tags and SEO in general could use some work. You seem to use a lot of one word tags like "feather" whereas it would be better to change this tag to "Black feather mask". This way you are getting way more out of your tags, getting more views, and the more views you get the more chances people will buy. And following along with this, I feel like your descriptions are too short. As a customer, I would like to know more about your mask before I buy it. How did you make it? What is special about it? Does it have a unique theme? Will it make me beautiful, unique, dashing, etc? Also, don't forget that search engines scan your descriptions. So you should employ your tags in your description writing as well.

Hope all this helps your shop get more attention!
