A couple of years ago, Etsy offered everyone here a $100 credit to try Google Shopping Ads. How many of you tried it, spent it, got very little ROI, and never turned them back on again?
A) You tried it, spent it, turned them OFF. It didn't work for you.
B) You tried it, spent it, kept it ON. It worked for you.
Which scenario are you?
**The main reason I'm upset about the upcoming combined Etsy Ads. Not to mention, Etsy is a venue, not my business partner. They shouldn't be the ones in charge of how my advertising $ are spent. That should be solely in my control and something I can access and change on the fly.
I agree 100% - I used Promoted Listings since they started and they work very well for me - And now, if I understand it correctly, the new Etsy Ads (which is to rollout sometime this Fall?) are going to combine PLs with Google Shopping Ads and 'allocate' our marketing budgets for us!!! No, maybe I want all my budget to go to PLs and that should be my decision. I will be watching this closely, I wish I knew the exact rollout and they would release the details soon, because I am very concerned about this development.
A. here, too. But I get Google visitors organically & seem to recall hearing that buying ads would put a damper on organic Google Shopping? Crazy how many ways there are to SPEND here....
A - terrible ROI. If it doesn't perform I'm out :) If they want me to advertise with Google they're going to have to get FAR better (by a factor of at least 100x, based on their usual performance) at investing my advertising money :D
Seriously, everyone knows that giving Etsy more control over your money is a fabulous way of wasting it, don't they? :D
I still have $97.00 dollars of free Google shopping ads. I'm not sure if I will turn them on. I only had 1 sale when they offered that deal. Spent $100.00 to make a $100.00.
I was looking at the email from Google offering me $100 of ads. It's been so long since I've dealt with that. Can you use it for Etsy? I do have my own .com but it points to my Etsy shop. Any suggestions of setting it up?
A. Zero return, glad it wasn't my money. NOT happy about this latest money grab by Etsy.
Yes - I’ve been wondering if Google Ads are worth it. And also how it works through Etsy...
A. tried it here and turned it off. Too expensive. For me it was a $35 credit
I also tried it direct with Google ads with a $150 credit and it was used up in a matter of days. If I recall I only selected maybe 10 keywords too. I had the same experience with Facebook free credit. Advertising broadly is expensive. For a small seller like me I need targeted, niche advertising, I don't need the whole web.
B. And feeling lonely reading the other comments! They aren't as good as PL's but they more than pay for themselves and have bought in loads of new orders and customers (mainly guest orders) I've had 2 orders in the last hour and one was from google. I think its like any form of advertising though, they won't work for everyone, I'm just one of the lucky ones.
