Did you participate? If so, did it help you at all?
I saw a ton of commercials for Etsy during it so they were definitely promoting the site if not the sale itself. Of course, there were no vintage items featured in the ads...
I did not participate but still made sales
Yep, Nana, I think that is the usual consensus.
Only one sale for me. Last year, I didn't have any sales during the same period, so I guess that's an improvement.
Congratulations!
I saw this same question last year and I'll bet the answers will be the same, pandemic or not.
I never have sales or discounts (personal preference). I was very busy, thankfully.
How did you do?
@ChillwolfArt I did okay, thanks for asking. Not a land rush by any means but not a total loss. Nothing at all happened until Sunday and Monday.
I'm glad; Congratulations on those sales! I wish you many holiday sales as well.
@ChillwolfArt aw thanks. Its been an odd year sales-wise and I am sure I am not alone in that. Hoping we all have a great holiday season! People will need a pick-me-up, right? So that means gifts on Etsy! Haha.
I agree with you about people needing a pick me up.
At first I didn't know how it would go (thought it would be the opposite; many purchasing necessities; out of jobs, etc.). I was actually pretty stumped; I do think people want things to make them feel better.
I know some people who went Up North; and said restaurants and brick and mortar stores were packed (of course, people wearing masks). Not outdoors so much, but social distancing in many instances. With other cases, from what I understand, there wasn't a lot of social distancing and no masks outdoors.
Heck, I am the one who needs a "pick-me-up"!
As to the sale, I had a couple but nothing that was "on-sale".
I did not run a sale but had my best day ever on the weekend.
@TickleYourWitch I love your shop name! How cute.
We didn't participate but sales were very good
Yep, Hedgehog, I think that is the usual consensus.
Yeah, same thing last year.
Zip...as usual! I can’t figure it out! Are my prices out of line? Well, on to the next season!
My shop is new. I participated for the exposure and more than doubled my sales. I had 3 sales going into the weekend and 7 sales by Monday night. I would do it again.
I'm usually slow on these types of holiday weekends. This was no different. I did include my items in the Etsy sale which made me nervous due to Etsy Off Site Ads. But I wanted to give it a try. I did make one larger sale. But to be honest, I believe that one would have purchased regardless of the sale as it came from my social media account. The other sales were smaller than normal. I doubt I'll do another Etsy sale. But, it is great advertising for the site and I'm sure some sellers did well.
I decided to participate, I shouldn't have bothered, I had one sale. I will not bother with these "etsy pushed" sales in future, as I have had similar results in the past.
Ziro sales but very nice convo from my buyer ..
Not bad
I didn't participate in the sale. I'm not in the Offsite Ad promotion. I have traditionally done very well with my 7 year old shop but am wondering if my items aren't being shown as often because I'm not in the Ad campaign. When I search, I usually have a few things up front, though. Sales have been BAD lately and NOT ONE SALE in almost a week! If I participate in the Ad campaign, I'd have to raise my prices and risk no sales because the prices are too high OR lose money on my items. I'm currently having a sale on all Christmas items in my shop for the month of September. No one is even looking at them. If I offer 10% off, add approximately 10% that Etsy gets, then the 15% subtracted for the ad, I may as well give my items away! Even with no 10% off sale - 25% loss? I sell beaded jewelry and tutorials. This past month ONLY the tutorials are selling. Been a hard year. The stimulus produced some sales but the latest is that there may not be another stimulus till after the election so I'm SURE my holiday sales will be lacking as well. I'm not giving up. Social Security isn't much - I need any $ I can get. My Avon business DIED thanks to a takeover who is throwing reps under the bus. It is now owned by a cosmetic company in Brazil. I had to buy some makeup in a local store for the first time in 36 years! Doing my best to keep going - what other choice do I have?! Considering the offsite ads for a while but selling at a loss I'm afraid once I start these ads I won't be able to get out of them. Hoping once the pandemic is over, things will start looking up.
