A couple of days ago I made my first treasury for quite some time. Some people do them all the time, but I find it takes quite a chunk out of my day so I only get round to it now and then...
For this treasury I made a deliberate effort to include the work by newer team members. The intention being to help give new people a bit of exposure and welcome to the team. Treasuries are about “sharing the love”. Or “do-as-you-would-be-done-by”...
Now that one of the new people has asked what a treasury is and noticing that fewer people commented or interacted with the treasury itself than when I have previously featured experienced sellers, it occurs to me that this is something that could benefit from a bit of discussion.
For anyone in the dark about what an Etsy Treasury is – it’s like a mini curated gallery exhibition on a theme or pleasing colour palette. This may or may not get featured on the front page, but can be used to help your Etsy colleagues get exposure. It’s not the done thing to include your own items it’s about helping each other and hoping that what goes around comes around.

http://www.petscribbles.com/2012/06/6-etsy-treasury-promotion-tips.htmlI feel very lucky and privileged that so many people have chosen to select sooo many of my items for their carefully constructed and aesthetically pleasing treasuries. These mostly unknown to me people are helping to get my work see by a wider range of people and potentially increasing the chances of me making a sale. The least I can do is to comment on the treasury, click a few items and scatter a few hearts about (these things help peoples items rise up in the rankings) and when I really DO like the treasury I will tweet it &/or share it on my facebook page.
This is what it’s all about...
It’s another promotional tool for getting good work seen.
Why not give it a go. Enjoy making the occasional treasury. Not only will you discover interesting things in the far corners of Etsy, but it will also give some insights about how people might find your work while you are trying to find that illusive item that will make your treasury “perfect”.
