New here!

Hi everyone!

I properly opened my shop and listed items on Sunday, and was fortunate enough to have my first sale on Monday (YAY!), but as I'm obviously very new on here would love some help / support / advice etc from fellow Devonshire Etsians!

Here is my shop… The Little City Paperie…

https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheLittleCityPaperie?ref=si_shop

How are you all finding it on here? Do you sell anywhere else other than Etsy?

I love how many local people there are on here! Looking forward to getting to know you all a bit better via the wonderful world of Etsy!

Re: New here!

hello Charlotte!
congratulations on your first sale. doesn't it feel good :D Hopefully, lots more to follow.

Lots of people only sell on etsy and it works for them. I sell on my website too and don't sell very much on Etsy.

Try a free website maybe like weebly.com and use social media to get seen out there.

Only advice for using etsy is to get as much in your shop as you can.
Good luck!
Lucy

Thank you Lucy! I'm having an etsy day tomorrow, so will be listing some more items.

Your shop is amazing! I'm going to have a peek at your website tonight too :)

Thank you again,

Re: New here!

Well done Charlotte. Looks like you’ve set off to a flying start. I’ve been here a little while now and found that my sales are quite erratic but gradually improving all the time.

Glad to see that you have your shop policies in place right from the start. And look forward to seeing your “about” page filled in when you’ve had the time.
I know that you’ve got your sizes in mm and probably think that should be sufficient. But if you would like people in the US to be eager customers you might find measuring in inches will be helpful too. Odd I know. But apparently some in the US have difficulty with cm. Personally I find having to measure in fractions of inches to be confusing. But as 40% of my sales go to the US I shall continue to measure in both. (40% of my sales are to the UK, 10% to Australia & the other 10% to various bits of Europe)

I also sell from my studio, a few galleries and the Devon Guild of Craftsmen’s shop. I do have my own web site. I haven’t got a shopping cart facility for my own website. I’m not very technological and I’m afraid of it going wrong. But there have been a few times that when someone’s spotted something on my website that’s not in my Etsy shop I have been able to list it here as reserved for them only.

Good luck with your shop. And keep plugging away….

Re: New here!

Wow! Thank you Lynn! I had never thought about using inches before…. but you're absolutely right. It's on my list for this week! I also need to re-edit a few of my earlier photos, but thats for another evening this week!

Do local etsy sellers ever get together for coffee or anything? Would be great to meet some local crafters face to face!
