Introducing your monthly Pinterest Board: Instructions and theme suggestions.

Hello all,
I'm Maria from WithTin and also FluxPlay Jewellery. Myself and Sarah Wright from FloraBubble are going to produce a Pinterest board for you every month (we will take it in turns).

For those of you not familiar with Pinterest, it's like Facebook but image-based. A 'board' is a collection of items / images / artworks / designs with accompanying info direct from the image source. Clicking an image takes the clicker to the source (your EtsyShop). Images from Pinterest come up a lot in Google Searches these days, and people can 'follow' and a board or a pinner to keep in touch with what they're making / liking etc.

We have created an account called MadeInDevonEtsy where your boards will appear each month. Every month, myself or Sarah will post a new thread, where you are invited to submit a link to an item in your Etsy shop which 'fits the bill' of the theme of the board for that month. Sarah and I will come up with themes, but it would be really good if you could post any ideas for future board themes in this thread by replying to my post, it would be helpful if you copied and pasted the list into your thread then added your suggestion to the end of the list - that way, everyone can always see all the suggestions in the most recent thread and wont repeat any by mistake.

Sarah and myself will then visit everyones link responses to the monthly themes thread and pin them into the new board. We might 'pad-out' a board with Devon-ish type stuff too, to make the board more 'magazine-like' and juicy, so if a theme is titled "Delicious" for example, then we might pin a few recipes from Devon Life (http://www.devonlife.co.uk/home) in with the mix and intersperse them amongst the crochet cupcakes, coconut soap and paintings of fruit! People who click on a recipe that we happen to have on our board, will see the name of the board and group and might come our way for a browse.....you see how it works?

The very first board is called "INTRODUCING". I have already populated this board by picking items from your shops myself so that you can see how it works, but that's the only time that I will do that. You will submit your own link in future, as previously described. Please feel to add another item if you wish to the first board, the thead for which I will be posting in a moment. Apologies if I have missed you out, it is inevitable as it takes ages to go through everyones shops!...so go ahead and submit a link into the Board Theme thread for "Introducing". Here is the link to the first board: https://www.pinterest.com/MadeInDevonEtsy/introducing/

There will be some months where the theme isn't appropriate for items in your shop and there will be other months when it is, which should keep the boards fresh, so feel free to add your suggestions for themes to the list below, I'm just getting the ball rolling, I'm sure you guys can come up with some better suggestions;

Delicious.
Fiery
Magical
Moors and Rocks
Coastal
Wild
Earthy
Mythical
Heritage
Ocean Spray
Nautical

Okay, so if you have any questions, then please ask them here, I hope I've made sense.

Thanks Maria and Sarah - That’s FAB!

Have taken a look at the "Introducing" board and it's really exciting to see at a glance the range of quality work being produced by the team.

The suggestions you have for future themes looks good too - plenty of scope for interpretation.
I'm pinning this thread for easy access.

Thanks for getting things started, I will contribute to the team boards when I re open my shop.

Cheers
Lynn

Good! another reason to go on Pinterest. I spend far too much time on it, but I love it so much that I'm sure it makes me a happier person to live with. That's what I tell my husband anyway. Thank you Maria and Sarah for setting this up

Re: Introducing your monthly Pinterest Board: Instructions and theme suggestions.

Hi Luna and Danielle. I've stopped doing the Pinterest board because there was little to no interest in it from anyone and participation was very low. We ran it from summer through Christmas. The instructions on how to participate were in the pinned post....there was a theme thread everymonth, you just needed to post your work in it. Feel free to contact Sarah (FloraBubble) and take over from me if you like!

Yay - Sarah from Flora Bubble is up for keeping the Pinterest board going. She will be very pleased for some help, so feel free to contact her via her shop if you are interested in helping with the admin side of things.

It's still quite early days yet & has lots of potential once people get into the habit of interacting with it.

The next themed board will be launched soon .....
:-)

Re: Introducing your monthly Pinterest Board: Instructions and theme suggestions.

I think the themed Pinterest boards are a great idea.

I have also noticed that a number of bloggers I follow on pinterest have set up group boards which have lots of contributers who pin their own content and also content of other bloggers. Was just wondering if it would be worth setting something like this in addition to the themed boards.

I think it would mean that the followers of all the contributers would see the pins come up in their feed. Just thinking this might help to get our pins out to more people and maybe get the Made in Devon pinterest account a few more followers.

Re: Introducing your monthly Pinterest Board: Instructions and theme suggestions.

Hi everyone!
Sorry for the radio silence and lack of themed board last month - things have been a bit crazy here and I've been completely neglecting Etsy.
I've just set up the board for this month which I will introduce and explain in a new thread (the theme is 'magical').

Tanya, I love the idea of a group board - I pin to a couple myself (when I remember!) but I dont know if we would need to advertise it somehow so that people find it? Definitely food for thought!

Re: Introducing your monthly Pinterest Board: Instructions and theme suggestions.

I never saw the point of Pinterest until quite recently. i'm now enjoying it and have found plenty of cool stuff for life in general. I've followed the page and a few members of the team now.

I've now got boards ranging form the obvious "buy my stuff" to more geeky subjects like hallmarks and gemstones.

Thanks for managing it.
