Facebook promotions.

Hi,
Has anyone had much luck with Facebook promotions/giveaways etc. to build page likes?

I ran a giveaway last month and didn't get one entry. I'm running another at the moment for an 18ct gold pendant as the prize and have a grand total of 3 entries so far!

Feel free to enter if you wish, the shares would be appreciated.

Best wishes,
Damian

Re: Facebook promotions.

Hi Damian

Just as a 'heads up' you need to be careful of Facebook rules. I believe you can't ask people to share your page as part of the giveaway. You can say it would be great if they would share, or feel free to share. I know a few people have been warned about this.

Re: Facebook promotions.

Hi Damian I'm with Joanne on this one I've also heard there are strict giveaway/sharing rules. My friend always ends her post with sharing is caring as a way to get around it. It might also be worth youtubing or googling facebook algorithms I don't fully understand how the concept works but its how facebook controls what posts are seen by who in our friends list on their news feeds. At regular intervals the algorithm changes. I'm under the impression that it works off what key words you use etc but I can't be certain as what I'm telling you I've heard discussed by other people but didn't understand enough of the content to retain the information!!! Hope that waffle helps a bit good luck!!

Re: Facebook promotions.

That would make sense - I have noticed if you share a post to another page it appears to get less views than shares to something funny. I assume that FB prefer you to pay for them to promote so somehow supress shares to sellers pages!

Re: Facebook promotions.

Thank you so far.
Interesting about the "no sharing" bit. I've seen plenty of pages doing the "share to win" bit. If people don't share, it means that the possible exposure doesn't grow and makes the giveaway pointless.

I don't know why, but many pages that I have liked seemed to have vanished from my feed on Facebook. When I look at the pages, I can see that they have been posting.

I have now paid for some "boosting" as they put it (fleecing) and have noticed more interaction from people that have already liked my page. Are Facebook hiding what I'm doing from likers until I pay? I think so. Also, I'm not sure how good the targeting is for their marketing. Yes, I have some more likes, but a couple are kids.

I'll see how this one runs, but I think it might be the last.

Re: Facebook promotions.

Very interesting. Several "entrants" have said they have liked the page, post and shared it, when they haven't.

It is a bit of a headache keeping track of it all. But just about possible.

I have now assigned all the names so far, a letter, I will then feed that into ramdom.orgs random order generator. Once this is doneeach name will be given a number and that will get re-entered into the generator to produce a "first place" winner. Sounds a bit complicated, but I don't want any trouble or accusations.

What do you think about sending a coupon code to the other entrants as a consolation prize?

It'll all be over at midnight thankfully.

Re: Facebook promotions.

All done. 28 eligible entrants, 22 additional page likes, £40 of Facebook advertising, the cost of a pendant and postage.

Was it worth it? I don't know yet, lets see how many likes "drop off", who doesn't interact etc. I'll review it after 6 months and let you know.

I am very pleased to know that it's going to a good home. A Congratulations Luna.
