Does Esty buisiness build? Last October - this October

Does business build on Etsy? Well I would say yes.
Last October 2013 I decided I ought to pay attention to my Etsy shop which was just sitting there. So I started fiddling with titles, looking at very successful shops, tags etc.
Well I am still not certain about much as it would appear Etsy keep changing the goal posts...but this is also sort of good.
Let me explain, if you had cracked it, dominated the top spots it would be very difficult for somebody else to break into the market. By changing things everybody has the opportunity to climb the rankings.
Etsy does require you to be active, the more you post on threads, the more people have a quick look to see what you do, the more you use the "Favourite Games" the more people see you. If they look at the item or your shop it gets a boost etc.

So figures...well they have climbed steadily over the last year. Not setting the world alight yet but figures for October 2013 - 2 sales, October 2014 - 64 sales.

Onwards.

Well done Janners, that's a great improvement. Gives us all encouragement.

For me my sales definitely increased when I was closer to 100 items but as I tend to promote in teams with new listings, I guess its probably a combination of the two! I've certainly had a lack of Etsy sales when I've not been active, which was for most of my first year!

Hi,
New to this, but hoping it will work. I've been on since September and have made 3 sales so far (just waiting to see if any or all are returned after Christmas) and no reviews.

I've noticed that my views, follows and favourites have increased a fair amount after participating in discussions.

Nice to hear it's working for some. Let's see what happens.

All the best for 2015!
Damian

Yep! Mine has definitely built
Definitely to do with the number of items you have listed, and number of sales, number of reviews etc.
Views don't necessarily mean sales, but the more views mean you appear higher in searches in etsy and also google etc.

Twitter has helped immensely! Particularly joining in #devonhour and #handmadehour etc. These boost up the views, and doesn't directly result in sales, but helps shop be seen etc.

My etsy shop wasn't really doing much and I had seriously neglected it and was considering leaving!
Then in July I decided to give it one more shot as I'd accumulated a lot of free listings
So I listed a lot of items, and gave myself monthly listing targets like 25, 50, 75
I reviewed my tags, descriptions and photos
I joined in teams
I did treasuries
i promoted my listings on pinterest and twitter
and sorted out delivery prices

I also listed my Frames, which I hadn't listed before as they're fragile and can only be posted UK. As most sales before that had been US or Europe I was wary about listing them. But I just went for it!! And listed them UK only.

and the effort paid off

I didn't see an immediate response, but during August the sales started trickling in! :)
2013 - 5 sales (though couple of them were swaps)
2014 first 6 months - 3 sales
2014 aug-dec - 34 sales
2015 so far - 2 sales

and the majority have been UK. I've sold a lot of frames, they've been the biggest seller, but sold a nice mix of other things to.

So here's to 2015!!
And good luck to everyone else too. Don't lose hope! xx
