Kim (one of the Etsy Staff) phoned today to have a chat, and quite worthwhile it was. Lot's of things but I'll start with treasuries first.
Treasuries are useful for promoting each other. The short of it is, 16 items from 16 different shops go into a treasury (lets's say ... "Janners Made in Devon Selection"). So I post that on my FB page for everybody to see, another team member does their treasury and then pops it on Facebook, then another etc. Each person does one post, but is featured in 16 others. A theme is good, this could be as simple as the "Blue" or "Animals". This gets everybodies items out to those folks on Facebook, and gives a great coverage. The clever thing is you are not in the treasury you make and post, you are not selling your shop to your Facebook friends, in essence you are saying "Look at all these lovely shops out there...not mine, just thought you might like them".
Now within etsy you get bumped up the rankings every time you appear in a treasury, so a win win situation.
