Re: Sharing Craft Suppliers

One of my favorites is firemountaingems.com. The reason I like them is they have a refund policy that is excellent. If for any reason the item is not as expected, no questions asked. Full refund. Also they keep a large supply of hemp and waxed cotton in stock. Prices are excellent, discounts for buying in bulk.

I use 1-6mm cords. I find Macrame Superstore (Pipperell Braiding) and KingsKountry are good for cord. I also use firemountaingems

Re: Sharing Craft Suppliers

I check ebay weekly for deals from people selling their craft stuff. Once about every three months or so I get a KILLER deal on supplies.

I have found GlobalHemp.com to be pretty fantastic, but just for the hemp.

The local Hobby Lobby and Michaels seem to try and outdo each other with deals, but most of the time it's for scrapbooking stuff :/

Re: Sharing Craft Suppliers

I buy 100% cotton cord from Martin Combs at this web site:

http://www.angelfire.com/ak/skateworld/knotstuffcords.html

He sells a lot of different sizes some of which might be just right for macrame knotting. Check it out. Fast service and great material.

Re: Sharing Craft Suppliers

I just wanted to thank u all for this input. I buy within my own town usually, but have been wanting to order a larger shipment of twine....I was happy to see firemountaingems on here, as it is within Oregon...so I can still know I am supporting locally within my own state.
thanks all!

Re: Sharing Craft Suppliers

I agree with George about Marty Combs cordage. If you are looking for a nice hard cord for bellropes, belts, or other work where you want the detail to show, I know of no better resource than Marty. I found it too scratchy for cordage that touches skin so I have my secret squirrel channel where I buy my cord in 600# pallets.

For those that like the braided fiber, Bob Dollar is a member of the International Guild of Knot Tyers and is one of the sales team at RW Rope and Cordage in New Bedford, Mass. They have a great selection of .8+mm cored and uncored diamond braid. They also have a wide assortment of VERY nice hemp from Denmark. The mill they get that hemp from has been in operation since the mid 1600's. I have 2000' feet of a 2mm hemp that is just straight up beautiful. I started working with it but found out I am allergic to it so I wait for my wife to have a project that she wants to do with it.

Re: Sharing Craft Suppliers

Great info! I've had trouble finding hemp thicker than 2mm, so I'm off to check these sites out!

Re: Sharing Craft Suppliers

Royalwood is the best linen supplier. For C-Lon cord, I always go to http://www.store.jewelsinfiber.com/. Marion always ships super fast and has a great tool and supply section. Plus findings for Kumihimo braids, which I love making.

For hemp, I've tried several different suppliers. But lately I've ordered it all from KwikCrafts, http://kwikcrafts.com/crafts/category/Hemp.html. They have a great color and variety of different hemp thicknesses. Plus they have Hemptique hemp, which is pricier, but totally worth it. So soft and uniform, and resists separating into individual fibers.
