Patterns for macrame hemp jewelry

I did macrame in the 70s and am getting back into it but, I had never made the jewelry up until recently. Can anyone direct me in the right way so I can get some patterns on line or maybe ordering a magazine,, I see how beautifully wonderful you all do with your work and I really want to expand my creations.. Thank you for any help..Deb

Re: Patterns for macrame hemp jewelry

Hi Deb,
I look for "old" macrame magazines and books at thrift shops. I find they offer the best variety for ideas. You could also look at your local library, When learning a new craft, I often look in the childrens section at the library because the directions are easier to understand/follow.
Hope this helps & good luck!

Thank you bhangtiez, I appreciate your help. I am also finding it hard to find beads with the holes large enough for the hemp or maybe beads that didn't cost an arm and a leg,, lol... I' ll do some searching on this site too.. Deb

Re: Patterns for macrame hemp jewelry

I haven't dont any either since the 70's/80's. I have however still got a book with lots of designs in. Just really want to make more as it was a lovely and relaxing hobby.

For beads, look at childrens toy crafts, wooden beads are more often than not in that section.

Re: Patterns for macrame hemp jewelry

Deb, here is a great macramé site that is full of patterns ranging in size from plant hangers and knotted chairs to micro-macramé jewelery. There are also lots of pictures to make it easier to understand and instructions on how to tie several different types of knots. I used to look at this site all the time! :)

Hope it helps! And for more advance patterns, check out amazon.com to see all of the many books that fellow artists have put out. Joan Babcock has a wonderful book for learning cavandoli macramé!
