Macrame Workshops

I'd like to have everyone be aware of and share macrame workshops available.
Joan Babcock and Marion Hunziker-Larsen (Marion Jewels in Fiber) are giving the best macrame workshops in the country that I'm aware of.

If you are not familiar with their work, you should be. Check out their websites.

and

They list their workshop schedule on their site.

Re: Macrame Workshops

Check out this item from fellow team member. It's not a workshop, but is very informative.

Re: Macrame Workshops

Does anyone know of any books that show how to set a stone in a bracelet such as the one below, with just knot tension? I've been searching micro macrame and Cavandoli macrame, all to no avail. I've tried to do it and I think I'm on the right track but it's just not quite right.

Re: Macrame Workshops

Or would the pattern above be helpful? Just improvising on that same technique?

Re: Macrame Workshops

Born to Me - Improvising on that technique will get you where you want to go and when you do that you will be more likely to develop your own style instead of copy catting other's work!

Keep knotting!!!

Re: Macrame Workshops

Once you learn a new method, is it even possible as an Artist or Crafter to WANT to mimic others work? Ideas are always flowing when Crafting. How could anyone deny their own visions over someone elses? Impossible.

I love this Thread, and am very Glad it was posted. I have received Macramedamare's tutorial, and I love It! I can't wait to incorporate this Technique with my Husbands work!

I look foward to future Posts, and I will keep My Eye out for any Workshops or Tutorials to Share with you all.

Happy Crafting Too All

Re: Macrame Workshops

Yeah, I wasn't trying to copy another persons work, simply trying to learn the basic method so I could make it my own. I don't intend or desire to create things that are already available to people and definitely have a style unique to anyway. The tutorial was very helpful and I am excited to improve my technique!

Re: Macrame Workshops

Exactly. A technique is a tool that we can use to produce our own vision. Therein lies the true artist, right?

Good chance Joan Babcock will be coming to Bemidji, MN Sept 10-11 to do a macrame workshop. Google her - you'll be amazed. Let me know if you are interested in attending!
