Second Shop Advice

Hi all, new member here. I opened my first shop bugsysbeanies a few years back and hibernated it once I was close to having my second kiddo. Well that kiddo is now 9 months old and I'm ready to jump back into the etsy world, but I'm wondering if I should shift my focus and possibly open a new shop. My first shop focused mostly on knit beanies for people of all ages with some knit scarves, blankets, dryer balls and other random items. Well lately I'm on a lace knitting kick (sometimes with beads and sometimes without), which to me seems very different from the style of items in my first shop. Talk to me a bit about balancing two shops. I don't know that I ever really mastered balancing one, so maybe I'll just keep bugsysbeanies on hibernation until I see how the new one pans out. I don't know...just typing as I think here. Any tips or thoughts would be much appreciated!

Re: Second Shop Advice

Hi & Welcome :)

I don't know enough about knitting to give advice about whether lace knitting doesn't fit within your 1st shop. If you have not been active on it for a while, it seems like you could simply change the focus of your first shop? Or are you saying that you want to do both. Bring back the 1st shop & add the new lace knitting items?

I can speak to multiple shops. It's more work plain and simple. The Etsy mobile seller app lets us manage all our shops with one login now which is great but it's still a bit cumbersome on the desktop computer where I do a majority of my work.

I actually ended up completely re designing my studio to support the workflow that opening my 2nd shop required. I have a 3rd shop but I haven't had time to really do much with it yet.

Anyway, if you feel that the new items just don't fit your original shop, then I do think keeping it in hibernation is a good idea while you see how the new one does and how much time it requires :)

Good luck!
Hope
