Linocut on fabric

Hi! I want to print some images onto tea towels and cotton totes. Has anyone tried Speedball Fabric and Paper blockprinting ink? Thanks!

You can also get a fabric printing medium and mix it with your regular inks.

We use Speedball fabric and paper blockprinting ink and it works well for us. You can check out the items in our shop to see some results.

Re: Linocut on fabric

Any tips? I just bought some Speedball fabric ink and I feel like it didn't work well. When I pressed down, alot of ink would push to the edges or it would clump up on the stamp. I tried to use the corresponding extender base - but I didn't see much of a difference.

Thanks!

Re: Linocut on fabric

Thanks! I'm actually printing with the Drive By Press ink right now. I'm having some problems with my images coming up faded, I don't think it's the ink but I'm not sure what to do. I feel as though I'm loading the block up with enough ink, but maybe it's just enough for what I'm used to for printing on paper. Any tips?

Re: Linocut on fabric

I have had a hard time finding the right stuff that works for me. I currently use a letter-press ink and ink my designs a little more heavily than I would do on paper, result below :

Speedball makes an oil based ink for Fabric specifically and I have extensively and successfully used it. It takes 5-7 days to air dry, then you machine wash. It can be thinned with water as well!
