This is a designated chat room for all of us game room groupies! A great place to hang out, ask questions or just get to know each other. A great big thanks to Jane and Elizabeth for getting our games back running again. XOXOXO
Enjoy!
Lori - aka "Packy"
I am making caldo de pollo right now. I have a lot of cherry tomatoes that I just threw into the crock pot with some chicken, cilantro, cumin, onions, potatoes, garlic, and carrots.
Sounds yummy.
Tonight I'm throwing together a lot of garden vegies with chicken and pasta. Italian herbs etc. Now I'm getting hungry!
We are having a cold supper tonight . The feel- like temp here reached 105! Blistering dry heat.
anyway, back to supper ~ we are having a huge salad with everything thrown in except the kitchen sink. There is sliced cold ham and deviled eggs. For dessert, plain pound Cake topped with blueberries . And then just going to sit near the fan with the AC on.
@collecteddust We've had some blistering heat as well. Last few days haven't been nice though. We also had bad storms and lost power for most of the day (don't even want to complain about that when I think of all those people affected by floods, tornadoes, etc.).
We have a generator which ran only certain things. But when the power came back on, the fridge bit the dust (it was getting up there in age anyway). So we haven't had a fridge in 1 1/2 wks. All the food went bye bye. The new fridge is coming tomorrow (I won't know how to act ;)

I think about the following often, and more so after this. How people lived their lives; no electricity, phones, running water (and many still do). And so many of these people are happier and less stressed than people are today. With so very little in their lives.
@ChillwolfArt -- Cheryl, you are spot on about how we take things for granted. Our a/c has been on the fritz for the last week or so (in 100+ degree weather...) and I feel SO spoiled complaining. People livid here 100+ years ago and there was no luxury such as a/c. People all over the world still live without so much that we take for granted. " And so many of these people are happier and less stressed than people are today. With so very little in their lives." Maybe that's the answer?
@TimeAndAgainFashions Hi Nora! I often think that would be a large portion of the answer. We've become too accustomed to everything. Yet look around us (I'm not saying there aren't good things going on), but I know when I was growing up (wayyy back in the day :) we didn't have a fraction of the problems we have now.
I'm sorry about your A/C. We were experiencing that kind of heat for a while, it's dropped down now. I hope you get it back soon.
Have a Happy Sunday!
This is crazy (I have posted about it in several threads).
EVERY single time I hit Reply OR try to Like a post, it takes at least 8 seconds or more. Not clicking onto a thread, only performing the actions I described. It was not this way yesterday (*same computer, Chrome, cache cleared....) Really getting frustrating and I don't know if anyone else is experiencing the same. (I don't see reports of it on the Main Forum).
I am not having that issue. However, last week we experienced a myriad of internet issues. Are you seeing that other sites are slow?
@TimeAndAgainFashions Hi Nora; sorry, just seeing your message.
I didn't go on any other sites. Just looked up some things on the internet. But yesterday the (and the day before, I believe) the forum was very quick (no problems).
Another Memeber said in a post that Lithium was either merged with or bought by Korkum (i'm probably getting the name wrong). And maybe that caused some intermittent slowness.
I wish for an interruption-free zone when painting or writing. No kids asking for ice cream, no cats demanding petting, no door-per-door sales people, no people doing all kind of surveys, no people asking for old newspapers, glasses or aluminum cans to recycle, no telemarketers...
Please pause for a minute.
There were two horrible tragedies this weekend. One in El Paso, Texas and one in Dayton, Ohio. Let us send good positive thoughts to the people in both cities.
Absolutely heartbreaking... our hearts go out to everyone.
Horrible and happening way too often.
We have to get it under control because it's starting to look like the "new norm". Remember when I was growing up (way back in the day :) We didn't live in fear of going to the movies, concerts, school and begin shot at. It's very sad.

@ElizabethRosenArt, @collecteddust and @ChillwolfArt :
About your previous post and comments.
What did USA turn into? Why this horrible change? You can not go to church, school, movies, so on without the risk to be shot.
What created the twisted minds? Are they reincarnation of Kublai Khan, ancient vikings or Nero?
My generation protested against the Korea war, my sons and daughter's generation protested against the Vietnam war.
I guess, my grand children generation protest again the violence right on American soil...
@SwissZahlerArt I do believe it's multiple things. But we've become a society where many are unmoved by violence; it the new norm. When I was growing up (back in the day :) we'd hear about a killing (either in the neighborhood, on the news, etc.) And we were shocked. But never did we fear going to school and being shot at (which happens way too often). Or the same going to a concert or the mall, restaurant. Now when it happens, people say "Oh no; not another one". And it's frequent.
It's out of control and kids should not fear going to school. Likewise no one should fear going to events because some maniac might start shooting people. We need tougher laws in (I don't want to get into political discussions). We need more than "Our thoughts and prayers are with you" (which they are of course). There are other things we've lost the war on (epidemics with drug induced people). We need action. And we're way too soft with many crimes, in my opinion.
A good news. Puerto Rico was not hit, as expected, by hurricane Dorian.
@SwissZahlerArt Great news, Ana!
May everyone affected stay safe!
Good news. Hope family and friends in Florida stay safe.
I would like to add my wishes for safety to all who are in the path of this hurricane. My thoughts are with you.
Wishing everyone a safe, Happy Labor Day!
Thank You to all who give of themselves and their families for keeping us safe. And to those who have fallen; God Bless you!
Now, fingers crossed all will be okay in Florida.
My husband and I, wonder how come with all of the technology, Science advancements, knowledge and studies, the humans have not find out how to dissolve a hurricane or tornado. Back in the high school years, a classmate brought to the Science class a newspaper clip about how to destroy a tornado. It explained, it forms because of the mix of hot and cold air. When the hurricane or tornado starts to form, (I don't remember which temperature was recommended) "shot" air and the excessive temperature (hot or cold?) would destroy the hurricane or tornado.
Well, that was several decades ago. Is it logical, could it be possible?
In that class, we had the homework to bring ideas about how to eliminate hurricanes and tornadoes. Teenager students we were, and brought all kind of illogical, possible, crazy, nonsense solutions...
Along your thoughts . . . .
What about the times of drought?
Why don't the "seed" the clouds for rain?
Robot clouds! That would help with a fire or two as well!
