This is a designated chat room for all of us to discuss whatever is on our minds. A great place to hang out, ask questions, give advice, or just get to know each other. Politics and other topics that create division are not allowed. We are here to support each other. Enjoy!
@ElizabethRosenArt I responded last night, but I’m not sure it got to you. Your message came to me via my email. I read the overwhelming application. I wrote to you thru Etsy messages. I’m not sure I am connected to messages. Did you get my response? I’m going to work now, so I can’t get back to this until tonight or tomorrow
Yes, I got your message Jeri, and will respond when I am clearer on things. Will message you then- and thank you! @JeriAielloartstore
Hi all, re a name change (which will be subject to their approval btw) can't have Play or Games in it, as I don't want any admin mistaking us for a promotional/favoriting team at a glance. They are ALL being axed.
I am leaning towards Word Smiths, as it also loosely suggests that we are makers?
In all honesty, a team called Savvy Seniors would probably fly through as it is clear what the focus is, and would be easily found by like-minded members. I'm not suggesting that, just as an example of what they are looking for if I am interpreting things correctly.
The application is lengthy (anyone can read it if they'd like to) and it feels like the new teams, and old ones that are allowed to continue, need to have an Etsy-based focus. It can be common-interest based, but I do worry that what we do isn't focused on Etsy so much, though we have certainly built a little community here!
@JeriAielloartstore @ChillwolfArt @fineartist @InMyField
@ElizabethRosenArt Hi Elizabeth! I like Word Smiths also. As far as the Etsy focus, the only thing I can think of; we are all Etsy Sellers (of course:) and we are like minded Members who are creatively making these thinking Games, as well as participating in them.
What about Take a Break or Take a Word Break (ie from working in your shop)? There's also a guy who posts in the game here on and off.
Wordsmith is one word! lol
Wordsmith is a good name.
Could we also consider the name Word Creativity only because it should focus on Etsy.
And we are creative on this team, creating sentences, etc. And doesn't Etsy focus on creativity?
@ElizabethRosenArt @ChillwolfArt @InMyField @fineartist @ Hi friends. I like all of the above name suggestions. I was also thinking of a title with “break” in it. In the description we might say something about Etsy artists taking a creative break from our art, spending time with colleagues & returning to our Etsy art refreshed. (actually, that is how I feel about our games) Just brain storming here. Of course our vintage collectors, who have played from time to time are welcome.
I agree. To be honest, Wordsmith would be my least favorite if I had to choose.
Hi All- So it appears that I am no longer able to change name of our current team (or add a new image)...
The application will reflect our current status. Fingers crossed... I will try to complete it all within the next two days.
If the application is declined, and the team is deleted we have until September 1 here as usual, and that will give us time to collect user names, and notify people who play, but only once in a while. And then we will try again to come together under a brand new awning perhaps?
@JeriAielloartstore @fineartist @ChillwolfArt @InMyField
@ElizabethRosenArt Thank You for the Update, Elizabeth! You know, I can't understand why the application is so lengthy, especially since our Team does not do Favoriting, which of course, falsely inflates Quality Scores. And keeping our Name the same seems right. I hope they let us keep this Team.
• Be Clear & Descriptive: Team names should clearly reflect the group’s focus ("NYC Jewelry Makers" or "Women Entrepreneurs in Fashion").
• Include Key Characteristic & Category: For characteristic-based teams, include key identifiers ("Refugee Artists", "The Mom Knitting Team,” “Senior Crafters”).
• Include Geography + Category for Crossover Teams: For location-based teams, pair geography with category (e.g., "California Ceramicists", "Toronto Vintage Sellers").
• Use Standardized Format: Use a clear, descriptive format that combines Location, Characteristics and/or Category (e.g., "California Ceramicists" or "LGBTQ+ Jewelry Designers") to ensure teams are easily searchable and inclusive.
• Be Easy to Search: Ensure names are searchable and follow a uniform structure for discoverability. Words should have spaces between them.
*Please note, Team names are subject to approval by Etsy in its sole d
@ElizabethRosenArt "How do you plan to engage your team members? (select all that apply)"
We creatively engage our brains to solve various intricate word puzzles within our Word Games:)
I may copy and paste that! Thank you!! @ChillwolfArt
@ElizabethRosenArt Thanks very much for the update! I am sorry you need to complete a lengthy application to, hopefully, keep this team operating. Thanks too for your continued support of this team. Our word games are very enjoyable!
@ElizabethRosenArt @ChillwolfArt @InMyField @JeriAielloartstore
After reading Elizabeth’s post a short time ago re: the application team info expected by Etsy, I am not feeling very optimistic about our team being acceptable to Etsy.
BUT I will try to offer helpful feedback to Elizabeth.
@fineartist @ElizabethRosenArt I hope that isn't the case, Nina. It's like a break at the water cooler. Everyone needs those breaks. We are exercising our brains, enabling us to run our Shops more efficiently, whether we are Crafters, Artists, Artisans, Vintage or Supply Sellers.
Perhaps consider a descriptor “Etsy Creatives” ?
Are most of us from the U.S or North America? Let’s come up with a geographical descriptor.
of active members who play most often we are U.S. mostly, and Canada (Carol) and Ric in the Philippines! @fineartist
@ChillwolfArt I agree with you completely Cheryl!
Why does Etsy want all teams to be business oriented? How annoying.:(
It wouldn't be that hard to create a couple of threads (maybe now??) that discuss something about what we are creating?
Sure, @ElizabethRosenArt That’s a good idea.
Everybody: Great idea. I’ll participate.
Hi Everyone, So I just submitted the application to keep our team, and migrate content. I messaged with Mike (another team captain from the thread Cheryl posted) and he said he submitted his application to keep his team 3 weeks ago, and hasn't heard back. So it is likely that we will have a bit of silence after September 1st.
There are 2 applications by the way- the one I just submitted is a request to continue. It was so well hidden lol!!
The second application would be a brand new team formation, should we need to do that. We will need to add more Etsy based content- but I can't think that discussing creative process or other, would be hard to do? Their requirement is 2 posts a month- I could do that myself lol. But they are serious- for instance any new team that doesn't reach 10 members in 3 months will be deleted.
The name change I submitted was Creative Thinkers which Nina suggested. Fingers crossed!
@JeriAielloartstore @fineartist @ChillwolfArt @InMyField @JustMeToo
@ElizabethRosenArt Thank You, Elizabeth! So Creative Thinkers would be the Name change of our current word game?
