Bookkeeping/Accounting Software for 2021?

Hi Fellow Landscape Painters! I'd love to know what bookkeeping/accounting software you use. I've heard good things about GoDaddy, Wave and Quickbooks Self Employed but I'd love to hear specifically from artists on Etsy. If you have any advice or opinions please let me know!

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I just joined this group and hope to connect to more of you.

Cordially,

Courtney

Re: Bookkeeping/Accounting Software for 2021?

Hi Courtney :),

I would definitely recommend using Quickbooks Online. Quickbooks is very user friendly and easy to set up. There's a wealth of information within the intuit community, as well as youtube :). I would suggest using simple start instead of Quickbooks Self Employed. Simple start would allow for more flexibility when it comes to naming conventions and choosing your expense categories. Also self-employed tends to be a little shakey if you do upgrade your account and want everything to transfer over.

thank you for the advice about using simple start — I used quick books years ago and it was a beast back in the day - so its good to hear about something with the word “simple” in it. Lol. I heard that you have to manuallyremove the sales tax from your Etsy sales. Have you found this to be a headache? Really appreciate you taking the time to respond and give your opinion. Thank you! Courtney

Lol I agree! The new quickbooks platform is very user friendly and easy to set up. I think you can link you Etsy account to Quickbooks, try this link below, it should explain how to do it :).

If not , you can always do a journal entry based on how frequently you file your sales tax report in Quickbooks. I haven't been to active with my Etsy account ( but I do work as an accountant and am very familiar with Quickbooks).

Hope this helps

Thank you AlmsCrafts! It does! Really hoping I can find something simple that also helps with seeing how profitable my inventory does. I'm growing so quickly -- it's getting really complicated and I've outgrown Excel. Appreciate the tips and the timely advice. Best, Courtney
