SRA Tag word

Does it actually help to tag your items with SRA?

yes - i think people who are familiar with the art world do

i put SRA in my tags and its one of the highest search terms

I have to say that I've sold beads specifically because of that tag. SRA was in the search which allowed them to find me. I don't have it in every listing but scattered through enough to be found.

I wish I had learned lampworking many years ago instead of just 3. I always wanted to be an aritst! I love color and color reactions no matter what form it takes. So using the SRA is more than just tagging my beads on Etsy, it is my award for finally finding myself through my art. after the age of 50! =)

I've seen it used to find my shop- not a lot, but sometimes, so I figure why not.

I think it's an interesting question.

I see that those 20K items under "sra" on etsy are almost entirely lampwork so it seems very internal to this community. sounds like people report they do have customers searching for it though.

if you look outside etsy, on Google, this acronym has many other overwhelmingly more popular meanings so it can only be useful combined with other stuff - as "sra lampwork" or something.

I also see that some artists, maybe just european ones?, have some sort of official looking registration number associate with this? SRA-123
Is that part of some organization that might give it more value to some people than it has as a generic keyword?

Heidi- everyone gets a number when they sign up to call themselves SRA.

With the new things I think I understand about search, if you put sra and lampwork into your tags and titles, you might just get found that way. I do them as separate words as I don't know if everyone would use them together in a search.

About 40% of the keywords used to find my shop include SRA so I think I'll keep using it in my tags :)

I use mine, but I'm still waiting for 'proof' of my membership on the SRA site. I'll use my number anyway, though.
Oh, and Deb, I haven't heard a thing from the Aussie version yet, either.

I use it too but I'm not sure it helps with the sales. Sometimes I have a feeling that it's only beadmakers who use it in searches !

I have used it also,, not in tags,, but in my title.. I haven't actually seen that it brought anyone to my shop..

I use it and it appears in my keywords hits from time to time but I suspect it's mostly from other beadmakers looking to see what's around.
