my news just reported that the cpsa has now banned ATVs and motorcycles made for kids under age 12 because they have lead.

lets just lock our kids up in a closet naked and duck tape their mouths shut until they turn 12.

Quick somebody tell Rush Limbaugh. They seem to be the only ones that he thinks are important.

Re: they are at it again...

Beandolls, the recalled or forbidden ATV's are the ones that are made to go slow enough for younger riders. The Dirt Bikes as it were. Next will be snowmobiles. If you have a child under the age of 12 you won't be able to buy a snowmobile.

I am in the same boat as zippityduda. Not all of us are stupid that live in Minnesota, but to live here you have to have at least one screw loose. LOL! Amy Klobuchar has got to go and we can not allow Al Franken in.

I heard they found traces of real food in chicken nuggets, tacos and hamburgers sold nationwide at many popular corporate owned restaurants!
The government needs to do something about this before more children are harmed by ingesting real food.

Re: they are at it again...

I'm not weeping over the loss of aTVs & motorcycles for kids under 12 - think those things are loathsome for anyone - but I do agree this is a prime example of BAd regulation. Which is not to say that NO regulation is the answer - it is not!

If a kid is going to lick his ATV or bike, he *MAY* get the idea to climb a tree. And, in doing so, he *MAY* fall. Since gravity works relatively well, that fall will result in the kid hitting the ground, at which time he *MAY* get hurt. Therefore, trees are dangerous.

Just outlaw gravity ... claim it doesn't exist and refuse to acknowledge it. :p

LOL!! However, don't be too quick to laugh. When I was a teen I remember reading a science fiction book where people ate nothing but textured and flavored soy protein (it was deemed healthier for you) ... there was a cooking contest and the guy that won got totally banned because he'd actually used the flavors from the REAL stuff...

Seriously, we're becoming our own worst enemies here and we ARE allowing this to happen to us! The slippery slope we started on a long time back is becoming steeper and much more slippery. We're just not quite to the bottom yet.

And yeah, my Libertarian brain and heart both hurt. I'm glad I'm old. I GOT to have fun as a kid.

Re: they are at it again...

I can see it now..
instead of kids saying they are younger to get into the movies cheaper..

Officer:"How old are you?"
Kid on dirt bike:"13 sir"
Officer:"you like like you are 10"
Kid on dirt bike:"I'm short for my age"
Officer: "Let's see your government issued picture I.D. card all kids over 12 get- that or hold out your hand while I scan your microchip.

So true, Ravyncrow! We'll just let the nanny state (and those groups who *know* better than we do the *right* way to live) take care of us drones. We can't be trusted! It's so sad the gov't doesn't seem to believe inherently in American citizens.

Not only will kids 12 years old and younger have to live in a plastic bubble naked, they can't have have any reading material/books and no toys to keep them busy.

What next is the Government going to do?

Collect kids 12 years old and younger and detain them in government daycare and won't release them back to their parents until they reach the age of 13.....

Be careful...Don't give them any more ideas!

This may not be very popular, but IMHO most children under 12 shoud not be driving a motorcycle or an ATV because the are motor vehicles and children can get seriously hurt ,not because of the lead content, but it is a fast moving piece of machinery, and and not all children have the strength and/or common sense to control them properly.

i disagree. 50ccs aren't that fast, and when you buy them for a kid, you have a regulator for the speed. and, you need to start them young. most of the riders in supercross started riding at 5-6 years old.

they really are not that fast... they are dangerous, yes. but so are skateboards, scooters and bikes, when not used properly.

but, i do understand that a lot of parents don't like the idea of their kids on motorcycles, a lot of wives don't even like their husbands on one. life is risks.

it just needs to make more noise. i don't think that the cycle industry knew they were going to be so heavily effected. they are up against another livelihood, eventually, common sense will prevail.

it has to.

the government is really pissing off people with this law. i think they expected us to embrace it, but, it's just more mind control.

In his speech last night, President Obama talked about providing education for our children from birth until they get a job. I believe the government has long thought they can do a better job of raising our children than we can. Scary!!!

The government would not go for that either. There might be phallates (spelling) in the plastic!

Re: they are at it again...

i should probably mention that kids start out on the small bikes, and move up to faster ones as they get better. there's some really awesome kid riders out there that are being totally halted in something they have worked years for.

these aren't kids who got a motorcycle for xmas and ride it here and there, they live and breathe dirt.

i'm interested to know what's in kids sports uniforms and gear... has anyone checked the lead and phthalates in football helmets?

i think padded rooms might be the safest bet. honestly... let them sit alone, with no risks for 12 years.

Re: they are at it again...

You know you shouldn't encourage Government to ban gravity!

You never know, Government might decide to fix the whole problem from the star by BANNING PARENTS FROM HAVING KIDS UNDER THE AGE OF 13 YEARS OLD.

Can you imagine parents being arrested and fined $100,000 for each kid they have for being under the legal age of 13 in AMERICA...

Good Grief, someone save us from all the insanity.....
